Formerly Animation, Now Game Dev Drew Cartoon Dogs Assistant Director and Writer at Mischief It's not revenge. It's Punishment.

As someone who worked in cartoons for nearly a decade. I have thoughts on the OoT remake. But the thing I kinda want to point out is that Link to the Past up through majora's mask had a storybook feel to it. The modern "look" of link has largely not changed since Twilight Princess

the goal is to go from the 90k/yr thing to closer to AAA wages but AAA is A) overinflated to begin with, and B) a lot of that involves basically having money from people who are going to make you make poor business decisions

I'm really lucky that there are people--serious professionals, actual Serious Types--that see my work and go from "huh that's interesting" to "I would like to work here until I retire" or "holy shit, I need to be on this game"

When I founded Mischief, the plan was basically to have multiple teams with people shifting between them as necessary so we never have to have layoffs. The goal was to create the most stable game developer in the world. A lotta shit has made that goal hard, but it's still the goal.

Anyways, today's labor day and I've spent a bunch of my waking time trying to strategize how to try to put the dozens of people I know into work. This is on top of recommending them for jobs when I hear about it.

That's why we're working on the horror project (also the pitch was fucking insane so the second phil pitched it to me I basically pulled out all the stops) and the Other One. There are so many people who need stable employment.

I want to get everyone to around $90k usd/yr minimum + royalties + insurance + benefits. Ideally figure out how to make a pension work too. I can keep going on Waifu Death Squad, it'll make money, but like, what happens between now and ship? So many friends need work.

Waifu Death Squad has been funded for a while now (and I cannot wait to talk more about our amazing partner), but what really stresses me out is that there are a ton of people I want to help place in jobs, and the only way I can do that is with the funding to pay them.

Expatriate, my drama pilot about a former Marine and Ukraine War veteran living in Japan who is recruited as a covert asset while taking care of his young nephew was a second rounder at the Austin Film Festival this year.

Always note that capcom is constantly at war with it's own brain rot and may or not win The reason RE9 took so long is they wanted to make a live service coop game like destiny and had to stop mid development and go what the fuck are we doing and started over

Capcom is going against the grain of western business practices: - they use the success of their biggest franchises to do a lot of R&D on risky projects - they bet on long-term goals - they keep their people - they try to be on the forefront of innovation instead of industrializing a formula

CC: What? Darrin: You know, an author interviewing a bunch of subjects but it's very difficult to gleam what actually happened because of multiple unreliable narrators so the viewer has to try and piece together what happened. CC: Ok a little highbrow but we got 24 of these babies to put to film.

The X-Files Writer's Room Circa 1995 Chris Carter: Ok we got a ninja telepath episode. A planetary alignment causing telekinesis, aliens on trains, Darrin what do you got? Darrin: I was thinking of doing a loose adaptation of Nabokov's Pale Fire but with a UFO encounter instead of a poem.

it is continuously astounding how bad DLSS 5 looks and how tasteless youtubers praise it It looks like over detailed over sharpened shit from a blur contracted cutscene. It looks like bad compositing on fucking FMV cutscenes It ruins performance and for what, a few idiots who cant tell its fake? lol

NEW ARTICLE NEW ARTICLE NEW ARTICLE! Emotions are the basic and most important part of human function, as essential as protein. So why is it that so many game designers don't design for emotion? featuring Dark Cloud and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! docseuss.medium.com/its-not-enou...

it’s not enough to build something, part 2: you must be aware that someone will play the video game

Years ago, a teen pitched an idea to me: “what if you wrote a story about an alien from the perspective of an alien?”
