On the one hand, this is a stupid time to buy a house. On the other hand, it is a pretty good time to sell a house. So I guess those factors sort of balance each other out a bit. I feel bad for folks trying to buy their first home right now though.
People say golf courses use more water than data centers like it’s some sort of gotcha. To that I say, it’s mostly small groups of wealthy people sucking up resources in both instances. So fine, while we’re at it stop watering the lawn at so many golf courses. Boom. Solved.
the year is 2027. gas costs $83 and lettuce is at war with us. however every location on every map now says AMERICA
NOOOOOOOO Not Tim Curry AND Dolly. My heart is broken.
Flash flood warning going off on my phone was 5:45am was a very rude awakening. But also unlike tornado warnings it’s like what am I supposed to do? Guidance says to seek higher ground. What? Where? Where is higher ground in a city that is flatter than a damn pancake?!?!
Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.
I dunno but it should probably be a bigger deal that the White House announced it wants to slap a 100% tariff on drug imports at the same time it is eliminating Medicare drug subsidies. And we’re talking about critical life-saving drugs like insulin, blood thinners, antibiotics, and heart meds.

One minute, you’re young, fun, enthusiastic, and a real badass. The next, you’re turning down the stereo in your car so you can see better.
Run on this! It's a real thing! People want to hang out IRL but hanging out IRL is too expensive.
The Fun Shortage Is Real, and It’s Making America Miserable. “With fewer places to relax and socialize, and steeper prices for entry, having fun is quantifiably harder than it used to be.” [bloomberg.com]
My Big Fat Greek wedding makes me cry every time. Love that movie.
Having been a glasses-wearer for all of a week my main question is-- how they hell do they get so smudgy all the time? I'm not touching the lenses or walking into dirt storms. But I feel like I'm constantly having to clean my lenses. What gives, man?
Feels appropriate for Juneteenth to allocate some time to union and labor organization activities. Being a part of @cfaillinois.bsky.social is feeding my soul in a moment when things seem pretty tough.

Forecast for today has me very anxious. Got flashlights, water, and pillows and blankets in my closet but I really wish we had a basement. Going to work from home so I can get critters into a closet when the shit hits the fan. Meanwhile it’s eerily still and quiet outside.
Toronto is a really nice city. Maybe one of the few big cities I sorta wish I could live in. Or maybe it’s just been an excellent few days with seeing stand up comedy all in Hindi, goth drag, and a truly great excellent comic arts festival.
Became a labor organizer as I’m entering my crone phase. Coincidence? I think not. Middle aged ladies are out of fucks to give. Give people respect and fair treatment or get out of our way! 💪🏼
Funny how you realize your phone screen actually is high res it just didn’t look that great because your vision had gone to crap. Excuse me but I’m going to be in my feelings about this for a little while.
So turns out my nearly daily headaches were because I turned 40 and my eyes decided they don’t want to see up close anymore and I didn’t notice. 🤡
If you ever wonder why MAGA folks still seem so mad after getting everything they claim to want, remember that every single day they have to wake up & pretend to love the music of Kid Rock, Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, & Brett Michaels
Ok, sure. Corporate greed thy name is Ameren. 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼 Also gee golly, I wonder what happened in 2024 to put corporate greed on steroids and make costs skyrocket across the board in the United States? Hmmm. 🍊💩
Furious at @lufthansagroup.bsky.social . I paid for seat selection at time of booking. Then it wasn’t showing and I thought I forgot so I paid again and selected seats. Disappeared again. Called customer service and they assured me they had my seats. 1/
Finally being on a real vacation after many years has been a reminder that I need to budget time and money for fun trips and need to significantly detach from work. It’s simultaneously true that I love my job and also there are parts of it that are making me absolutely miserable.
I just feel like I got really lucky in the fiancé department. That’s it. That’s the post.
