London’s theater scene is amazing… it also has a *shockingly* high density of absolute shit in its commercial sector.

It’s weird being at edfringe without twitter. I sort of miss twitter. The discourse, the debates. Not the toxicity. Anyway here are some nice reviews from my Edinburgh fringe show. Sorry.
IS IT TOO LATE NOW TO SAY SORRY. 12:15pm Summerhall. 6-31 August.
Against all odds. I made it to Edinburgh Fringe. IS IT TOO LATE NOW TO SAY SORRY? @summerhallarts.bsky.social at 12:15pm every day!
Absolutely loving this book. Although I had a small existential crisis when I realised that the original NES Mario Bros and Mario 64 were released only 11 years apart. Truly what a time to be growing up around video games.
My book, Super Nintendo: How One Japanese Company Helped the World Have Fun, is out next February! It is a lively cultural history of the world's most beloved video game company, drawing from 20 years' worth of reporting and interviews. Pre-order here: linktr.ee/super_nintendo

Tonight is press night of Precipice (Pressipice). @timelapsetheatre.bsky.social It's both a bold formal experiment in musical theatre writing process and a rare step into speculative fiction for musical theatre. I'm extraordinarily proud of it.
Full casting has been announced for the world premiere of new musical Precipice, dir by co-creator @adamlenson.bsky.social & running at the @newdiorama.bsky.social from 11 Nov-13 Dec Actor-musicians Max Alexander-Taylor, Holly Freeman, Isabella Marshall, Melinda Orengo & Eric Stroud
A huge thank you to those who have donated to my new company's crowdfunder. We are still quite a way from reaching our hoped target so if you are able or willing to support our endeavours I would be so grateful. We are making some really cool and unique stuff and every contribution helps.
Looking forward to reopening the Lazarus #EngineRoom next week with our @immersiveartsuk.bsky.social investigation into XR tech within Shakespeare worlds by working with @adamlenson.bsky.social- standby for daily updates via our Engine Room blog www.lazarustheatrecompany.co.uk/engineroom
Hey. It’s weird to post on here asking for a favour. But I need a favour. So if you like me or like theatre or both, then have a read of this thread.

London Road is still one of the most extraordinary shows ever made and the fact it’s back onstage is so special. You have just over a week to catch it @nationaltheatre.org.uk so do whatever you can to get there.
Do I have friends who want to play Nightrein on PS5? I am feeling fomo.
Adam keeps it quiet because he’s mostly a director but he’s really great at sound design and composition for plays! Hire him for all your fringe needs!
Does anyone need an EdFringe Sound Designer? I have time in June/July and will be up in Edinburgh for week zero. Amongst other things I designed the sound for last year’s Fringe First winning ‘Revenge: After the Levoyah’

I have become so obsessed with Dead Outlaw from just the seven tracks they’ve released and reading every article about it that I think I need to go to New York
Such a great day working with the genius David Kantounas on his new play. Thanks to the Actors’ Lounge in Norwich and the brilliant cast.
Insane to me that Cameron Macintosh is kissing the ring like this.
At least a dozen performers are expected to sit out the June 11 performance of Les Misérables during President Donald Trump's attendance at the Kennedy Center. www.broadwayworld.com/article/Some...
Just heard someone on a podcast say about the recent west side story movie “I’m not a musicals person but I loved it”
I don’t think there’s a recent musical theatre lyric that gets me more than “Those sunny afternoons you spent with me. They’ll still be happening, just somewhere in the past” Hoping that Maybe Happy Ending gets to London so I can watch it once a week.
This is very cool. Thanks so much Dr Broadribb. I look back at the pandemic and remember that feeling of being forced into a new frontier. And that has informed everything I’ve done since.
Delighted that my article on Francesca Forristal and Jordan Paul Clarke's verbatim musical Public Domain has been published this week in Journal of Contemporary Drama in English by @degruyterbrill.bsky.social 🥳 You can find it online here: www.degruyterbrill.com/document/doi... #AcademicSky
Just a reminder that musical theatre can be more than pop stars and IP
