New paper alert! Vital stats only capture individual births, not people’s reproductive career. For that, demographers use surveys that collect full fertility histories. But these fertility histories are less helpful if people don’t fully report all their births or report info inaccurately. 1/

New paper! Social scientists & policy folks are interested in birth contexts - whether births are wanted or occur in stable relationships. The only way to know this info, tho, is to ask people in surveys since it's not collected in vital stats data. 1/
