🌿 Tiny greenhouses, big climate question. As alpine summits warm, high-elevation plants have nowhere higher to move. AMC researchers use open-top chambers to mimic rising temperatures and track how these species respond, helping guide future alpine conservation.

Above treeline, tiny plants, extreme weather, and some of New Hampshire’s most loved trails all share the alpine zone. AMC’s Alpine Stewards help hikers understand this fragile environment and how to care for it. See a steward? Be sure to stop and say hello! 👋

The sky is the limit for AMC science, literally. ☁️🔍 At Lakes of the Clouds Hut, our Research team is using a cloud catcher and open-top chambers to study changing alpine conditions and track how one of the Northeast’s most sensitive ecosystems is responding.

This summer, AMC’s Alpine Steward program enters its 26th season and is expanding into the Northern & Southern Presidential Range, helping more hikers learn about fragile alpine environments, Leave No Trace, and changing trail conditions. Be sure to stop and say hi when you see them! 👋

Oh hey, moose 🫎👋 AMC’s Maine Woods wildlife cams captured a few long-legged locals moving through restored stream habitats. Each sighting helps our researchers understand which species use these areas and how healthy waterways support the larger landscape. What other animals do you think stopped by?

100+ participants, staff, and instructors. 11 hands-on workshops. One big weekend for trail stewardship. AMC’s 5th annual Trails Skills College at Camp Dodge brought the community together to build skills and care for the trails we love. ⚒️🧡

"AMC Lodge Mount Cardigan, NH" I spent two days hiking last September at the AMC lodge at Mt. Cardigan in NH. It's hard to describe how beautiful and peaceful this place was to visit. Everone was so kind. It felt like home. I can't wait to go back in May. Thank you AMC! @appmtnclub.bsky.social
