I'm looking to contact to other indie science fiction / fantasy writers, looking for writer friends. I am a retired science teacher, working on my WIP, and looking for folks to discuss with, learn from, share with. I am also looking for beta readers. #scifi #booksky #antarctica #fantasy #authors

I'm curious. Which book got the logistics of long-term space habitation most convincingly right for you? As in actually mattering to the plot, not just dressing? Or doesn't it matter for you? #BookSky #ScienceFiction

Always a nice feeling to log into KDP after a couple of weeks and still see new sales. Not many, but it's new readers regardless. A real lift for the weekend after a slow writing week. #writingcommunity #indieauthor

Book 2 of the ELLE Cycle picks a very different ELLE4 story to Judgement - a mission to the Earth's surface, a Mission Lead who can't escape her nightmares and something lurking in the shadows. Slow going writing it, but it's coming along. #BookSky #SciFi #amwriting

ELLE4 is eighteen kilometres of spinning cylinder, home to half a billion frozen embryos and two hundred thousand people who've never seen a sky. That's the habitat Judgement is set on. #BookSky #SciFi

Things I hate about LLMs: that novelists are being challenged to prove they wrote their own work. Things I don't hate about LLMs: that they give me an excuse to put "trap streets" in my work—really obscure archaisms and eldritch neologisms!

After months of no real rain, now that we've had some - the damn lawn grass. It just keeps growing! Think I need a new mower, or maybe a gardener. Or maybe (hear me out) stop going outside and just write? #writingcommunity #5amwritingclub

September's 99p window on Judgement just closed — thank you to everyone who picked it up. It's back to full price now, but still there on Kindle Unlimited for a couple more weeks if you'd rather read it that way. #BookSky #SciFi

Dear Bluesky contacts, if you glance at my post: I am sincerely worried, when some bogus "new age" and "self healing" or "learn to think..." account follows me, to notice this - an impossibly high number of follows, and followers that include you. Please take care of yourselves on the web 🌼

The October newsletter drops tomorrow. An update on how Book 2 is coming along and 2 pieces of writing advice I ignore. Plus a free story for new subscribers. www.rikohare.com/contact/free #Booksky #SciFi

One of the hardest things about being an author is NOT TELLLING EVERYONE ALL THE COOL SHIT YOU HID IN YOUR BOOK BECAUSE YOU WANT PEOPLE TO DISCOVER IT THEMSELVES. But you are also really passionate about the shit you hid in your book.

Facebook really doesn't want you to see the new documentary exposing Elon Musk Neither do TikTok or Google or the eX social media site. Since they won't accept paid advertising, let's do some free advertising. Go see Musk in theaters October 9 www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/dig...

The Major Social Media Platforms Are All Rejecting Paid Ads for Alex Gibney’s ‘Musk’ (Exclusive)

YouTube, TikTok and Meta have all turned down the trailer for the Oct. 9 doc, citing “political” content. X won't even take Bleecker Street's calls. The distributor is appealing.

Huge thanks to those who've bought Judgement, don't forget how helpful a review on Amazon or Goodreads can be for an Indy author. #booksky #SciFi

What no-one tells you about Indie publishing (and trad published authors forget because it's provided for free to them) is that professional editing is going to set you back at least £1k. On a book that might make you a few hundred... #writingcommunity #indieauthor #amwriting

If I can be real honest, and real vulnerable here...trad publishing considers sales below 2k to be a failure. The vast majority of indie published books will never sell over 100 copies total. I'm not even close to 100. By every metric possible, I've come up short.

I do think it's getting harder and harder to be able to distinguish between AI generated images and Photoshop (or whatever) montages. I might have to stick a label on my next covers that they're human created (not that would actually prove anything). #indieauthor #amwriting #writingcommunity

The draft of Winter's Call seems to be shaping up as a high-tech, post-apocolypse, survival horror. If I put a bit of kissing in, do you think I could get away with adding a '-mance' to the list? #Amwriting #writingcommunity #scifi
