#HorrorWritersChat I want to put werewolf/wolf shifters in Ireland in the late 1500s/early 1600s and have them bite back after hunters were offered money for each wolf they killed. Give the wolves a bit more of a leg up to fight back ;)
Make horror history with a new setting. Q4: #HorrorWritersChat - Choose an existing horror IP or horror creation and add it to an historical period different from its origin. Share your idea. ---- Outro in 10 mins
#HorrorWritersChat Rebecca goes through a devastating loss in Such Sweet Sorrow, and the whole book is walking through her overcoming that loss and navigating ghosts while doing it. The situations are false, but the grief and navigating the lows? Totally real. I wrote most of S3 after my- 1/3
Making it personal. Q3: #HorrorWritersChat - In what ways has your own history (past) impacted or inspired your horror writing? Examples: giving a character your childhood trauma, reimagining an experience with a different ending.
#HorrorWritersChat It depends on the character. Such Sweet Sorrow; Rebecca only has a little bit. Acanthus from my dark fantasy? They have an elaborate, long-lived backstory, being a vampire. Starting as a young priest in 1258, turned and left in a crypt in 1263, "rescued" by their sire in- 1/2
Even fictional characters have a past. Q2: #HorrorWritersChat - How much history, how much of a past, do you give your horror characters? Share an example.
It's Wednesday again, #HorrorWritersChat ! I'm Artemis Quinn, I write dark fantasy and paranormal/supernatural horror, and... Some historical horror fiction I've enjoyed! - Frankenstein, if it counts. It was contemporary when it came out, but it's one of my faves. - Lost by Gregory Maguire. 1/2
Welcome to Horror Writers Chat. Itβs time to explore the past. Q1: #HorrorWritersChat - Introduce yourself, the horror you write, and share up to three historical horror fiction stories youβve enjoyed. (Horror set in the past.)
A snip of Such Sweet Sorrow: [The house] had taken on a mind of its own the way only old houses seemed to do. The yellow of the wooden siding had long faded started to peel away entirely, sun-blasted beige wood beneath the crackled facade. Links in QRP! π #BookBazaar26 #QueerWriters #s3 πππ©Έππ±π
Hey y'all! Marketing's a headache. I'm still trying to get followers for Such Sweet Sorrow's crowdfund campaign. You can find it, and 38 other projects, in The Book Bazaar this year! S3 - www.backerkit.com/call_to_acti... TBB - www.backerkit.com/c/collection... #BookBazaar26 #QueerWriters πππ©Έππ±π
I'm so stoked. Only four more followers to my campaign needed so it can launch! Get your #art print & short story! And #dragons! And #fungal #horror! And your queer, neurodivergent bird-people, (one leg sold separately). #TBB #BookBazaar2026 #ππ #ππ #πͺπ #amwriting #WriteSky #WritingCommunity
#QueerWritersChat I need 9 more followers before BackerKit will give me a chance to print my #book! You can get #stickers when you pledge later this year! A bookmark! (Probably a never-before-seen short story :3.) And a physical copy of a really cool fantasy! www.backerkit.com/call_to_acti...
#Critterary These creatures are amorphous, able to vastly change their shapes, but are uniformly colored to blend in and move in the shadows-- dark blues, dark purples, blacks. Their eyes glow; red, green, or white, depending on the available light or lack of it.
Today we're talking appearance! What exactly does your creature(s) look like? Any variations/regional differences? #Writing #WritingPrompts #Critterary
#Char_Roleplay "Pretty much any waking moment I have to deal with other people," Rebecca laughs. "I'd rather just spend most of my time alone, outside of a few loved ones."
#Char_Roleplay - August 5, 2026 Main Characters - What feeling or memory is evoked when you hear the word βANNOYANCE'? #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Worldbuilding #CharacterDevelopment #AmWriting
#FantasyIndiesAugust 5. Aloe (TFTNG) - October 15th, the Grieving. It's a ceremony that is dedicated to honoring those who have died throughout the year. Such Sweet Sorrow - October 18th. The day Rebecca's world changed. Yule Parlay - Yule/December 21st. It's the reason for the story.

#QueerPrompts Not that I can think of off the top of my head, though I don't watch many movies or TV shows.
#QueerPrompts August 5: Any scene from a show/movie that's like a scene in your story?
#SumLuv hmm... My first few dives into romance weren't with things in the genre (Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, Drawing Blood by Billy Martin/Poppy Z. Brite) or beta reads. My first actual romance was probably Sara Raasch's Nightmare Before Kissmas, on @allyxwood.bsky.social 's recommendation.
Do you remember the first romance novel you read? Where did you get it from? 𧑠#SumLuv π§‘
#MythAugust Out of the four, I'd say probably Neshia and Alphonse are the most powerful, but Chiara is the most respected. Alphonse is literally the strongest, physically, and his strong moral code has made his faction try to follow his example as a guideline. Neshia is the strongest, in - 1/4
#MythAugust 5 Today is about hierarchy! Who ranks highest or lowest among your gods/spirits/whatever? Is there a consensus about this ranking? As usual, interpret the question as loosely as you need to to fit your specific worldbuilding, and feel free to skip if it's not relevant to you! πβ€οΈ
#AwesomeCharacters It's Cypress or Acanthus, hands down. And, I'm probably exasperated more than anything. "What did you two do now?!" Someone is either chasing them, or they got up to mischief and went in over their heads.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters You and all your characters are staying together somewhere! You hear a loud crash, then silence. Which one do you immediately suspect, and what do you think just happened? Are you worried or mad? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
Play along and learn more about Sylvan π I haven't read the Machine series yet, but it's on my TBR, and this looks fun!

Yule Parlay, my sapphic pirate novella, will be sent out into the world in just a few months! It is part of a (very large) romance anthology benefiting a specific charity, and we're coming up to being able to talk about it soon. π I cannot wait to share.

#Char_Roleplay "Hello. I'm Conroy Hewitt. Regret... Now, that's quite the powerful word, isn't it? I think, what I regret most of all, is that I lingered in academia. I could have put more energy and time into my own art endeavors."

#FantasyIndiesAugust 4 Favorite piece of folklore - Probably the folklore I based my short story Considering the Veil on - it's a local folklore to Kerhonkson, NY, about Lundy Rd. Favorite fairytale - Probably the twelve dancing princesses. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twe...

#QueerPrompts TFTNG - Acanthus prefers a small group of trusted people, but winds up collecting friends like pokemon cards lol! Cypress LOVES a big friend group. Such Sweet Sorrow - Rebecca prefers one close friend. Quality over quantity. YP - Phoebe looks at her friends as family, so big group.
#QueerPrompts August 4: Do your character(s) prefer one close friend or a big friend group?
#SumLuv Phoebe is entranced by Aurelia immediately, though their meeting happens off page β we see Phoebe well after her crush is established in the beginning. For Aurelia, it's hard to know what her true feelings are.
Meet cutes don't have to be "cute"! They are a plot device 𧑠But! Let's talk about how they DO feel about each other early on! Is it fairytale love? Is it *lust* at first sight? Hate at first sight? All?? Snips here are welcome (always welcome if you want to answer anything with a snip) 𧑠#SumLuv
#MythAugust Because they were an adventuring party, there really aren't any factions within the deity structure. The closest thing to a "faction" would be that Chiara emit light from their skin in the dark, and are daywalkers. This makes it so that she cannot be in the same area as the other three.
#MythAugust 4 Today, tell me about the different factions among your gods/spirits. Think like the Γsir & Vanir in Norse mythology, or angels & demons in Christianity. What's their relationship? Are they sworn enemies? Sometimes allies? Interpret the question however makes sense for your story!
If you're a new writer looking to publish your book, my biggest piece of advice is to do research into publishing, no matter whether you want to go trad or self-pub. And PLEASE avoid vanity presses and hybrid publishers that ask you to pay to publish your book.
#13MorbidMondays Happier. Healthier. Full of life and missing the things that they hated about themself. And, maybe a bit transparent.
This week's prompt is "faded photograph," so... QUESTION THREE There is a faded photograph from when they were alive, but the ghost bears little resemblance to it. How has their appearance changed? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (4/5)
#13MorbidMondays I.... don't actually know. Probably We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough? But that's less... "spirit" and more "soul vs body".
QUESTION TWO What is your current or most recent ghostly read? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (3/5)
#13MorbidMondays Probably a hazy spot in an otherwise clear room. Where you couldn't tell if it was a developer malfunction or not.
QUESTION ONE If you were a ghost, what would a spirit photograph with you in it look like? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (2/5)
