I’m glad we’re publishing an anthology with 30+ stories in it, but I really should have thought ahead and invested in a signature stamp. I haven’t written this much cursive in a day in 25 years…

I’ve just heard that Lindsey Graham is, at this moment, speaking with Mitch McConnell, and I believe it lol.
When a video starts “This movie turned 20 this year…” I always go “No, that came out in, like, high school.” Then I recall that, actually, most of high school was 20 years ago. Then I think, “Well, not all of it, though,” but these last thoughts are in hieroglyphs because I am ancient… anyone else?
Check out the new newsletter. It’s got a little of what I’m working on and a lot of where I’ll be. First up, @originsgamefair.bsky.social in Columbus, OH! Come out and see me and the other talented writers in Author’s Alley!

They really lobbed this one for me: MAGA moron: “Ur such an ass!! All you did this whole time is talk like u think ur better than me!! How mature!” Me: “Not at all. I didn’t think I was better than you when we started. But you made a such a strong argument that I was, I had to concede the point.”
Will exclusively be using the term “cogsuckers,” to refer to people who use GenAI now. Please feel free to join me lol.
Sad news today. A thyroid tumor has been diagnosed with Pam Bondi… thoughts and prayers… I hope it pulls through.
“It’s lonely, isn’t it?” “It’s not that bad.” “Then you’re not that smart.”
Five days left! Don’t miss out. Send us your stories :)
Five days left on the open call for "Missed-Fits," so send us your stories. Speculative fiction from 1,200 to 2,100 words about something missing or out of place (broadly defined). Paying $0.08/word. Here's the link to submit:
You will publish short stories. You will write novellas and novels—millions of words. You will still look up “rein vs. reign” when you use either one. You will do this every single time, and every single time you will say, “I knew it!” even though you didn’t and nobody was around anyway.
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promised to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.” - Robert Frost
My essay about GenAI in the arts (and the dangers it poses to those who use it) is now free at @apexmag.bsky.social! I think I’ve taken an angle I haven’t seen yet in the discussion, and the goal is to help people, so I hope people will read and share. This topic means a lot to me.
Not a Scab, But a Wound
This essay is about generative AI, but I’m not here to shout about how unethical it is. I’m not here to rant about it being built...

Writing research fact: ravens and crows are only black *to us*. Animals that see a wider range of the spectrum see them as explosions of color (think parrots, but colors shift with angles, like chameleon paint). They look glossy to us sometimes because their violet, hues border what we can perceive.
Another free story! Three weeks only. Read it while you can :)
We've got another free story! For the next three weeks, come check out Rich Larson's "Pod People." It's a fantastic story about found family and transcendent empathy, so you'll be glad you did.
Another new free story! This one’s a happy, heartfelt ghost story about love and family and motherhood, and I know you’ll love it.
It's time for another free story! For the next three weeks, head over to our site and read "Tears in the Nursery" by Catherine Wells for free. Make sure you don't miss out!
Another free story! Check out @chrisblake.bsky.social’s “Life After Life After Life” from our recent anthology. Three weeks only to read it for free.
Free story time! This one is "Life After Life After Life" by Christopher Blake. This story is about life, legacy, love, and sacrifice. Plus, it's got sentient machines living at the edge of our solar system, so that's pretty cool. Don't miss out. It's only available for free for three weeks 🙂.
Another great story temporarily available for free! Don’t miss out.
It's time for another free story! Up next is "For the Rectitude of Our Intentions" by @ourmankoto.bsky.social. What if the U.S. was founded on black magic? What if its success and protection was linked to some profane spell? Read and find out, and be sure to run the numbers at the end 🙂.
Another free story. A quick read at only 250 words, and well worth your time!
We have another free story available! Now, and for the next 3 weeks, read "Disclaimer: This is Not Your Child" by @sloiaconi.bsky.social. It is, sadly, a very timely story, but powerful and well worth your time. And don't forget that "Birdsong" by @renfestklingon.bsky.social is up for 10 more days.
