Large and fast-moving wildfires are spreading rapidly in Central and Eastern Washington. Today I joined the entire Washington state congressional delegation to urge the President to approve Governor Ferguson’s request for an expedited Emergency Declaration for these fires.

Access to the world of books through libraries changes lives. Prison libraries provide incarcerated people with important tools and opportunities for growth, and this bill will study their effectiveness to reinforce the work they do to help incarcerated people return to society successfully.

I visited the Secret Creek Fish Passage project today with WSDOT, Granite Construction and Associated General Contractors of America to discuss how this project will restore five miles of upstream habitat for salmon and provide a wildlife passage beneath I-5 and Highway 99.

I voted no on the House version of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) because it raises the defense budget to $1.15 trillion, paving the way for the Administration to continue spending billions of dollars on Trump’s unjustified war in Iran rather than lowering the cost of living.

The people I represent need answers on how the new Alberta to B.C. pipeline is going to affect Northwest Washington communities. I will keep pressing the Coast Guard to ensure that oil spill prevention planning accounts for increased oil shipments in the Salish Sea.
