SAVE THE DATES! HUGE news everyone! We’re delighted to share that our popular Winter Conference event is returning in 2026!

Proudly sponsored by CHASE (AHRC), the third iteration of the MEMRN Winter Conference will take place from the 12th - 15th November at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. We’re so excited to finally reveal ‘Otherworlds’ as this year’s exciting conference theme.

Join us between the 12th & 15th in person and online for several joyful days of panels, social events, workshops, networking sessions, and adventures in our historic city. Arrival activities will take place on Thursday 12th November, with the following three days dedicated to the exploration and exchange of our community’s incredible academic knowledge.

If you’ve previously attended one of our events, you’ll know that this promises to be a brilliant time; full of supportive academic dialogue, socialising with like-minded peers, and plenty of laid-back fun too. Don’t just take our word for it, though - swipe to see what last year’s delegates thought!

Everyone is welcome: whether you’re a current researcher, a creative practitioner, working in heritage, or simply a huge history enthusiast - MEMRN is always proudly open to all.

This year’s Call for Papers will be available via the MEMRN website and on our social media from Tuesday 4th August. The deadline for submitting an abstract will be midnight on Friday 25th September.

What’s this!? Another teaser!?!?! 👀 Over at MEMRN HQ, we’re getting ready to share a very exciting event announcement with you! But before we share the big reveal on Friday, we want to know what you think it's going to be! 🤔 Take your guess at our event theme and comment your ideas below! 👇

At the top of the image we see a window into a heavenly scene. Marble arches shimmer amongst pastel coloured clouds and golden light floods through the towering spires. Below, a rich green forest scene is punctuated by a portal into another world, with the mountains beyond the portal faintly visible. To the edge of the image, a dragon rises from a purple wisp of smoke. At the foot of the image, we are confronted with the flames of a hellish landscape, over which looms a terrifying demon figure in silhouette.

Don’t miss out on our July research seminar, happening tonight, 28th July, at 6pm BST! We will be hearing Kate Hilton and Ruby Whitehouse, both members of the MEMRN committee, present their work to our friendly community. Their presentations will be followed by a short Q&A.
