It's the final day of EIFF, and the question is, Who's taking home the Sean Connery Prize? Skintown went down well. Mission is a tough watch but has home advantage. Capsized was a crowd-pleaser. Snapshot and Pretty Babies are probably too marmite. Who's gonna win the 50K? Any guesses?

The lineup of films out in February is insane. Sirat, The Secret Agent, Wuthering Heights, If I Had Legs.., Twinless, The President’s Cake, The Testament Of Ann Lee, The Moment and more. Why do UK distributors do this all the time? Droughts followed by the award season flood? Must drive cinemas nuts

It's freezing out, so get to the cinema. Here are my Scotland film event highlights for January: • Filmhouse and GFT celebrate the French New Wave • The Goethe Institute presents Fokus • Ben Wheatley takes BULK on tour • new film night DV8 Film Club and more... www.theskinny.co.uk/film/film-ev...

As is now tradition, I asked a bunch of the programmers and film exhibitors putting work on in Scotland for their highlights of the year, their favourite films of 2025 and their hopes for 2026. Thank you for all your thoughtful answers. Everyone else, have a read www.theskinny.co.uk/film/opinion...

It's always kind of worrying when you look up a film festival and there's more information about the person who curated it than the actual films themselves. We get a lot of this in the visual arts scene already. Can these narcissists please stay out of the film world?
