When I'm writing poetry I'm often listening to music to set an atmosphere or to remind me of a time. I've put together playlists for each of my books, including the latest one Sleeping through the stars, witg the music I was listening to while writing them.

My new pamphlet 'Sleeping through the stars' is out now. Following the launch last week, it's great to see it in the flesh and out in the world. The simple cover and colour pallette matches the simplicity and starkness of the poems within, exploring themes of life, loss, and lessons from the stars.

Owl in November

A white figure rises, disturbed,
from the overgrown margins
of the field, and up into dusk.

All souls in time take flight.
And in time they will return,
circling and quartering the same territory.

The search reveals nothing.
No mammal asleep in a circle,
no finding a heartbeat.

I’m delighted to announce that my debut poetry collection, ‘The Way the Water Held Me’, will be published by The Emma Press in the Spring. Available to pre-order now!

Looking forward to this event on Saturday, when I'll be taking part in a panel discussion on poetry, landscape, and a certain forest. The F.W. Harvey Society's annual event takes place at Minsterworth Village Hall this year, and focuses on the influence of Minsterworth on Harvey's writing.

Great night last night at Gloucester Cathedral at their Evening of Remembrance Poetry, reading some of my own poems on the theme, plus a couple by FW Harvey. It was great to hear moving and inspirational poetry from a wide range of voices last night.

Farewell Cambridgeshire, hello Forest! The long-promised house move has (finally) happened, and I'm now back home in the Forest of Dean. Here's some pictures from today of why I moved and what it's like here. DM or email me for more info.
