Some stories are better fresh and others benefit from a little fermentation
ever think about how public school teachers have to go into debt to get trained and certified, often even paying to work as student teachers, just to get jobs that barely earn back that debt, while our taxes pay for cops to go to cop school for free?
crazy to me that babies born in 2020 are now in first grade and little people
Something I can't stop thinking about: On a whale watching boat out of Provincetown last month, we watched a migrating black-throated green warbler circle the boat before landing on a woman's hat under the canopy of the top deck & resting. Look at it. Haven't you, too, felt this level of weariness?

i love scary stories and spicy food they make me feel alive
I've been doing some reading mentorship with a 3rd grader and have also found that graphic novels are uniquely great for reading outloud together. It's fun and easy to switch off characters and narration.
exactly. plus, when you read a graphic novel with a kid, they are way more likely to actually *look* at the page and actively follow or even read along than with prose. i see this every day at my job running a literacy program
Graphic novels are great for visual literacy! When you read comics, you're deciphering multiple visual and text-based cues. Readers can decode emotions, infer what happens between panels, observe how color choices can change our perception of a subject, and so much more. These are crucial skills.
just now realizing all the adults in the middle grade graphic novel i’m working on are all “second and third space” caregivers: teachers, librarians, mentors, spiritual guides. no parents at all.
it is so refreshing to meet women who are much older than me and perfectly content with their lives without children. incidentally, many of them work in childcare

working for an educational nonprofit is like having to achieve an impossible task for a folktale witch every day and the pay is just in children's smiles
if you love indie comics and you have good executive functioning and extra money it is unfortunately your moral duty to run a micropress
