Anyone working in political advocacy would agree. For the first time, the Senate became a useful chamber where important legislation could be introduced, seriously debated, and ultimately pass into law. Updates to Canada's 100-year old animal welfare laws wouldn't have happened without senators.

But I don't know a single person who actually *studies* the Senate (and granted, there are very few of us), who doesn't think the Trudeau reforms were an improvement over the previous status quo. That tells you something.

Or they could have just let this beautiful fish live. Ice fishing has always struck me as so cruel. The fishes don’t even get one season where they aren’t being terrorized by trophy hunting (which is what this is).
