The weirdest thing about attending a statistics conference at a furry convention hotel is I'm sat here trying to focus on understanding a talk about some complex mathematical theory and all I can think about is how much more fun it was to be here dressed as a giant animal

Being a tourist in Boston when you're British is weird, it's like no matter what attraction I go to everyone acts like we're the bad guys, it's frightfully rude tbh
Checking in for a statistics conference that's coincidentally at the ANE hotel and the check in guy was like "I see you've stayed with us before" and like obviously that's a totally normal thing the hotel computer told them but I still couldn't help imagining a sense of "we know what you really are"
One of the things that's easy to miss about disability is how much time it costs; like being blind already makes me slower at a million things and then on top of that you have stuff like this where it could trivially be accommodated online but instead you waste hours jumping through needless hoops

To celebrate capitalism I mean the World Cup I just had my first ever Happy Meal (you get a cool animal soccer toy thing and I love animals and soccer) and ngl that was an astounding quantity of food for the money and also an astounding quantity of food for a child
Doing an expense claim and have discovered that my credit card statement abbreviates the American Statistical Association in such a way that it looks like I am a subscriber to a particularly niche adult magazine
This is an incredible effort that is 1000% worth scrolling through and I can't believe I hadn't seen it before today (full disclosure I am a flag nerd and a national animal nerd but even if you are not it is still so much fun)

Woke up to a mildly sinister email from a disgruntled author whose paper was rejected in peer review who has somehow decided I was reviewer #1 (I wasn't), so i can at least cross that one off the academia bingo card
Booking a room for the Big Stats Con (TM) and I'm like hey I know that hotel isn't it usually full of animal people
TIL Inter Toronto of the Canadian Premier League recently got a new mascot and oh my goodness he is perfect
Went to YTZ as part of Doors Open Toronto and while I was devastated to find literally no Porter merch I did learn YTZ has an official mascot called Billy the Flying Fox with a suspiciously good mascot costume
I can't remember the last time there were so many songs I would be both happy to win *and* I think might win but I am still preparing for disappointment #eurovision
