This set is special in a way that few other sets have been, as this is the set that helped me work through the emotions from coming out as trans ~two weeks before this show. I know I’m normally pretty brief on descriptions, but I want to share my thoughts, song by song, for the first half of the set

Alex M.O.R.P.H. + Christina Novelli - Utopia This song feels like the moment I realized who I was, speaking through to myself. I felt like I finally cut through the noise inside my head, it felt like a dream, felt like utopia. As the song said, I just know that it can’t ever end. Solarstone + Meredith Call - I Found You (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) “In the darkness, I found you” 
I didn’t realize how much I’d been in the dark to myself. Finding myself in this way has illuminated so much for me, it’s been quite literally like someone turning on the sun. Tycoos + Denise Rivera - Carried By The Sound Music is my first language. It’s been a part of my life since before I remember, as told to me by my family. So, being carried by the sound is a part of my regular routine. It’s what helps me think, clear my head, work through all sorts of complex thoughts. It only felt appropriate to work through such complex emotions with music. Above & Beyond + Zoe Johnston - Quicksand (Don’t Go) (Ben Nicky Remix) This song is very special, as Above & Beyond are the group that made me fall in love with trance in the first place. The line “when I have to help my heart to stand so I can say goodbye to you” hit me exceptionally hard, because I am saying goodbye to a part of me and embracing the part of me I’ve known I am deep down for years and years. It’s not a permanent goodbye, that part of me is still me, but it felt like a marker of one chapter ending and another beginning. Alan Morris - Elation This one, despite having no lyrics, felt like an audio manifestation of the euphoria I’ve felt the last two weeks. I’m overjoyed to be part of such a supportive community and to share in the elation and euphoria.
