It's that special time of year when they give the danger-kitties pumpkins to play with at The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota. A much-needed timeline cleanse. 🐯🎃 (📷: wildcatsanctuary.org)
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Here's something you may NOT know about beluga whales: they have squishy foreheads. This area is called the MELON, and it's a specialized organ filled with fat, oil & wax that acts as a deformable acoustic lens, focusing sound waves into the water around them. But wait, there's MORE!
