*The British press* spent this year dumping on their once-favoured son Nigel, and Badenoch is clueless that she is being deeply indulged by media outlets that mostly want her to shut up and pretend to be somewhat normal.

A year ago, Kemi Badenoch faced calls to resign after disastrous local election results.

Ed Cumming meets Badenoch and examines how her Thatcherite policies, sharper Commons performances and revamped shadow cabinet have helped steady the party, and put Nigel Farage under pressure.

People are pointing out (understandably) that there’s an irony or inconsistency here, but of course there isn’t really: the entire point of far right politics is that they (favoured group) have a right to do & say what they want, and you (opponent/ other unfavoured person) have no rights at all

Interesting: “Raise the Colours” are citing the European Convention on Human Rights in defence of their flag-raising campaign👇 🔗 www.bbc.com/news/article... via www.bbc.com The ECHR protects us all.

If you’re not familiar with the way industry insiders, political hacks, oddball volunteers and some of the world’s largest media outlets regularly combine on idiotic stunts intentionally constructed to fool the public into believing drivel and bullshit, then “Climategate” is a handy place to begin.

This month's bonus episode is about how climate change is fake but the hosts' body horror is real.

I again note that Sir Keir and Morgan went from embattled Big Beasts Of Politics to clueless and embarrassing no-hopers in the length of time it took maybe 500 MPs and political commentators to read Peter Mandelson’s emails to Jeffrey Epstein. Now all Peter’s friends are on best behaviour 🤔

We can conclude here that either 1) these lads have been assured none of this is going to happen, or 2) somewhere in Labour HQ there is a drawer full of evidence against them that’s so utterly damning, all of these guys will squeak “Oh yes I love nationalising things” like their nuts are in a vice.

"100%."
Wes Streeting says he feels "completely vindicated" by his decision to back Andy Burnham.

This notion of bigoted beliefs being a protected characteristic like gender or race is just absolutely barmy. Those of us who’ve experienced genuine discrimination for who we are know there’s no comparison, and the political and legal collusion on this stuff is disastrous.

Homophobes are very grateful to the transphobes who pathed the way for this. The racists can’t wait to get their turn. It’s only a matter of time. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Watching the Arab Spring play out was a real education, as everyone started by cheering on the way social media had helped movements for justice to get rid of unjust regimes… and then a lot of people had a think about what the implications of that might be.

the two big ai stories to kick off the week are - meta ai giving your address to strangers on fb marketplace - stole a scientific breakthrough and presented it as its own work this is what we get instead of healthcare or third spaces or public transportation or pick literally anything else

BREAKING: 94 year old Jewish human rights barrister, Margaret Owen arrested under the Terrorism Act outside Andy Burnham’s Labour Party conference. UK taxpayers are funding these arrests while masked men terrorise the streets in coastal towns. Lift The Ban on Palestine Action.

look, I was here through every other round of benefit cuts, benefit conditionality youth employment schemes, crack downs, new criteria etc. since the 1990s. At no point did reducing support or making it harder to get have some transformative effect in the targeted population.

the maddening thing is that none of this history plays *any* role at all in discussion of "welfare reform". There will be no questions about why all the other "welfare reforms" (ie. cuts) didn't work. Why the callous Tories, who actually HAD A MANDATE for cutting state support, couldn't manage it

The scale is horrifying but for real, everyone fully understood what was going on throughout, and they behaved like that anyway. They behaved that badly *specifically because* because it’s so obviously horrific and indefensible.

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

I guess there must be some people impressed by Kuennsberg and Mason, but I haven't met any. As the BBC are making savage cuts, they should review the contracts with some of their 'stars'.
