The Odyssey: I’m glad Christopher Nolan’s out there making films & I really liked Memento & The Prestige but as they’ve become bigger so have the cracks. His blunt trauma style expository dialogue drives me nuts & keeps taking me out of the story, ironically. Afraid that’s all I have to say.

When I showed students historical films, I always explained they should read history books afterwards if they were looking for historical accuracy. I did this after learning that so many of them believed that Jack & Rose were real passengers on Titanic.
The Invite: Loved it. Possibly because I’ve been starved of well made American comedy dramas that were ten a penny at the cinema up to the 90s. But I laughed a lot & was touched too. The score was overpowering, though. Dedicated to Diane Keaton & Wilde channels her perfectly in her own performance.
