You don't get better/more art by skipping the creative process. It's a big org's responsibility NOT to platform pro-AI dipshits. It's their responsibility to be a goddamn brick wall about that absolute donkey-brained buffoonery. It's not a difference of opinion. It's right/wrong. *fin* (Maybe.)

At the absolute LEAST, it should value the artform of writing. It should NOT champion bullshit. It should not throw ANY weight behind thievery machines & offloading creative endeavors. Gen AI is not a tool that solves a problem. It is simply A PROBLEM. It has NO place in the craft of writing/art.+

yeah, it seriously slowed kids' progress with formal education milestones. why do we care? We should still have tried to minimize infections and eradicate COVID even if it meant some people didn't finish highschool until they were 20. that shouldn't be a big deal. capitalist scarcity is the problem.

this is distressing. as a disabled streamer, my small income from twitch is a big deal for me. hope there's enough outcry to get them to not do this. if not??? I'm honestly not sure what to do, and many people (especially marginalized streamers) will be in a similar situation. fuck this. fuck AI.

Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.

also, let's move from individual call outs to working on building communities of solidarity in our profession that can try to collectively resist the encroachment of AI companies and educate new writers against AI use.

You wouldn't know it from how some people talk, but it is incredibly easy to not use AI for anything.

There's a website called Science Fiction Weekly (dot com) that appears to have reprinted a bunch (maybe all?) of Daily Science Fiction's stories. They claim they did so with author permission. They are lying. If you were published in DSF, maybe join a bunch of us in sending takedown notices?

YEAH they even got me and I had all of one story in 2022. I was not aware of this website's existence until today. what's disgusting is they are claiming to have author permissions...one of the authors whose content they have stolen died several years ago. PRETTY SURE THAT MEANS NO PERMISSION.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.
