Welcome to August! Only one month to go until our 9th issue drops. Edits will be going out to authors soon (probably today). In the meantime, we can finally reveal the absolutely gorgeous cover, slightly revamped from our previous style, with original art by Tobias Roetsch. Ain't it beautiful?

Cover for issue #9 of Trollbreath Magazine. The original art is by Tobias Roetsch, showing a shuttle rising through clouds, dragging them along in it's wake, while in the sky above there is a planet with several moons. The colors are similar to a sunrise, with lots of oranges. The top text says Trollbreath Magazine, Issue 9, Fall 2026. At the bottom are the list of authors, and the editors.

Cover reveal! No release date set, but we're drawing closer to finalizing our first anthology! 60 stories and 24 poems published in Trollbreath Magazine over the course of our first two years. It will be available in ebook & print. Cover art: Betidraws Trollbreath Magazine: Volume One (2024-2025)

A mock-up of the cover for the upcoming anthology Trollbreath Magazine Volume One (2024-2025). The cover shows a stylized forest scene with a small figure in a red cloak with their back to us walking through the almost cartoonish trees. Artwork by Betidraws.

My new story ‘Or Forever Hold Your Peace’ is now free to read! The more time passes, the prouder I am of this one. It’s not at all my usual style, so please do give it a try. It’s got tall towers, true love, and a DJ who has seen such terrible things.

Once we get caught up on submissions tomorrow morning (Thursday, July 9th), we're heading off to Massachusetts for Readercon! We'll be floating around, enjoying the great panels and readings, though we don't have any events planned. But we will have bookmarks and Cosmo pins to give away!

Cosmo the Troll, with a sly grin, in his trademark torn chainmail, wearing a steampunk hat and googles, wielding a ray gun.

It's time for another edition of Free Fiction Friday! This is our twice per issue two-fer, where you get two poems for the price of one! Today we have “Dust from My Distant World” by Devan Barlow, & “Coronal Mass Ejection” by Spencer Keene. magazine.trollbreath.com/free-fiction...
