I was recently diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. It's a "disease of chaos" that completely upturned my life for a couple months. I wrote a blog about it that goes into more detail and discusses prognosis. :-) burntsushi.net/encephalitis/

Just like last year, we replaced a whole wall of movie posters with our own punny movie posters at the cinema where RustWeek 2026 took place. I designed seven new posters for this year's event. See the thread below 👇
Thanks to all who made the RustWeek Hackathon such a massive success for Abacus; 18 PRs came in that day; 15 for Abacus and 3 for the rust-eml-nl crate! @rustnl.bsky.social #rustlang #opensource #elections #RustWeek2026 #rustweek
Finally got round to typing up my thoughts on my #Rustweek experience. I had such a good time, that it has made me re-evaluate a few things, but my notes are here at least, for all those who might be interested to read: sachy.dev/blog/rustwee...

Excited to see more rustweek trip reports, but I continue to be deeply thankful for both: * The Rust community, both those working on the lang, and the grand majority of folks that use it + contribute * @mara.bsky.social, @rustnl.bsky.social, et. al who know how to run the best events out there

I've been to OSS events, Rust and non-Rust, and run by @rustnl.bsky.social and not run by them. By far, RustNL has always run the smoothest in my experience, and has been what *this* community is looking for. I think part of that is the population of attendees, and a lot of hard organizing work. ❤️
i talked about view types with a lot of cool people last week - here are a few notes :3 scrabsha.dev/articles/one...

Sad that RustWeek is over, and glad I got to spend the week with so many wonderful people. Next time you are delighted by how a Rust feature works, say thanks to all these folks who spent the week hashing out every possible edge case! Can't wait for next year's RustWeek! #rustweek #rustweek2026
#RustWeek has officially started with the talk of the year! @lukaswirth.dev and Vlad Beskrovniy speak about RustRover and rust-analyzer, their history, architecture, and what makes IDEs different from compilers.

I'm *very* excited to report that we got initial funding and have hired our first Rust maintainers! RustNL's Rust Maintainers Team starts out with two full time maintainers, one intern, and five part-time maintainers, now stably employed to continue their work on Rust! 🎉 rustnl.org/maintainers/
I'm excited to share what I've been working on with @erikjee.bsky.social: RustNL's #rustlang Maintainers Fund! Many people and companies contributing to Rust, but there are fewer and fewer paid positions for general maintenance (reviews, cleanups, etc). We need to fix that. bsky.app/profile/rust...
