Imagine organizing a Rust conference and having zero women on stage. That's just embarrasing. oxidizeconf.com

A post by @mara.bsky.social have been stuck in my head for about two months now so I just had to write out my thoughts on what the most central railway station in the Netherlands is: erk.dev/2026/06/21/t...

Since RustWeek took place in a cinema, we ended the closing session properly with a cinematic credits roll. ✨ If you missed it or want to see it again: 2026.rustweek.org/credits/
Check out our latest blog post for an interview with Tiffany Pek Yuan, one of the maintainers of the Rust programming language: blog.rust-lang.org/inside-rust/... This is the first in a series of blog posts highlighting our amazing maintainers. 💛

I'm curious how many of the regular cinema guests we confused with our posters. (We put them here a day in advance.) :D
Just like last year, we replaced a whole wall of movie posters with our own punny movie posters at the cinema where RustWeek 2026 took place. I designed seven new posters for this year's event. See the thread below 👇

I've been to OSS events, Rust and non-Rust, and run by @rustnl.bsky.social and not run by them. By far, RustNL has always run the smoothest in my experience, and has been what *this* community is looking for. I think part of that is the population of attendees, and a lot of hard organizing work. ❤️
Excited to see more rustweek trip reports, but I continue to be deeply thankful for both: * The Rust community, both those working on the lang, and the grand majority of folks that use it + contribute * @mara.bsky.social, @rustnl.bsky.social, et. al who know how to run the best events out there
Finally got round to typing up my thoughts on my #Rustweek experience. I had such a good time, that it has made me re-evaluate a few things, but my notes are here at least, for all those who might be interested to read: sachy.dev/blog/rustwee...

I'm really excited that my assert_matches!() macro is finally stable. I can't believe it's been five years since I added it to (unstable) Rust. Time flies. github.com/rust-lang/ru...

It's finally time to announce the opening talk of the RustWeek 2026 main track! 2026.rustweek.org/talks/taylor/ Don't forget to buy your tickets, before they run out!
Hosting a conference in a cinema is genius.
Did you know that RustWeek 2026 is held in one of the largest cinema's of the Netherlands? This means: extremely comfortable seats, great air conditioning, perfect audio, and a very big screen: over 280m², the 2nd largest in the country! ✨ Don't forget to buy your tickets! 2026.rustweek.org
The RustWeek conference venue is right next to Utrecht Central Station, the biggest and most central train station of the Netherlands, just 30 minutes from one of the most connected airports of Europe, and very easy to reach by international train! 🚄
I'm *very* excited to report that we got initial funding and have hired our first Rust maintainers! RustNL's Rust Maintainers Team starts out with two full time maintainers, one intern, and five part-time maintainers, now stably employed to continue their work on Rust! 🎉 rustnl.org/maintainers/
I'm excited to share what I've been working on with @erikjee.bsky.social: RustNL's #rustlang Maintainers Fund! Many people and companies contributing to Rust, but there are fewer and fewer paid positions for general maintenance (reviews, cleanups, etc). We need to fix that. bsky.app/profile/rust...
employment status update: i am! starting 1-st of may i'll be working full time as a rust maintainer in @rustnl.bsky.social's maintainers team. a dream come true :) i'll be continuing work on maintaining the rust compiler & related projects, but now full time & paid ^^'
The "average Rustacean causes 100 segfaults a year" factoid is actually just a statistical error. The average Rustacean causes zero segfaults per year. Segfault Nia, who lives in cave & causes over 700 million segfaults each day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.
** Speaker announcement ** Does making it possible to perform arbitrary FFI from within Miri while still detecting almost all UB sound like a challenge? Nia Espera explains all at RustWeek 2026! Info & tickets: 2026.rustweek.org/talks/nia/ See you in Utrecht May 18-23, 2026! #rustweek2026 #rustlang
Next to three tracks in big cinema rooms, we will also have an amazing hallway track. We rented out the entire 1000-person capacity restaurant attached to the cinema! This space is available all day during the conference, has many six-person booths with power sockets, and even a nice outdoor space.
