It is a false distinction to see the atrocious attack in Berlin as something unique or exceptional. It is wrong to claim that it is an "attack on our free societies". It is a continuation of the practices of these societies. Only if we overcome these practices can we actually be safe.

I don't mean to brag or anything, but I went to the garden centre today and bought one (1) plant. Sure, that might be one more than the zero I went in for, but it's also five fewer than last time I went to buy zero plants, so I'm calling it a win.

Anyone has ever said they don't enjoy women's football because "the quality is not as good as the men's game" should be forced to watch this match and recognise the fact that two teams playing like absolute clowns has made for one of the most entertaining games in recent memory.

As someone who doesn't have an enormous emotional investment in the England men's football team but watches them anyway... sometimes in sport you can play exactly as well as your opponents allow you to.

Turns out that if I go out to the pub to watch England play football and have one too many beers, then I get home and buy plants from the online garden centre. 18 border perennials (penstemon, salvia, & geraniums) planted this evening courtesy of England vs DR Congo.

Pleased that after a couple of weeks of fighting the extreme cognitive dissonance of starting to actually like Erling Haaland, he can now revert to his correct role as pantomime villain.
