an understanding that the metric for modesty on a fat person vs a skinny person is wildly skewed, especially since a lot of accessible and even alleged plus-size clothing simply isn't constructed in a way that supports or makes any attempt to flatter fat bodies

Aubrey Gordon@yrfatfriend.bsky.social · yesterday

Fellow fat people/people who wear plus sizes: what would real solidarity from your thinner friends & family look like for you? (Once again, asking thin & midsize people to sit this one out & just listen. Take notes & take action!)

so i got some foot pedals to help me with a chronic condition i call "gaming while being an artist that didn't do enough wrist exercises and is pushing 40" and made art while trying to test out a comfortable position and height

there's an immense power in recognizing when a piece of media is objectively bad and vibing with it anyway, or when stuff just isn't for you and that's okay but every now and then i'll remember something that had potential and did fuckall with it and get irrationally upset about it

meditation is one of those things where every time someone talks about it and how it helps them it all sounds completely fake because my brain could never. "just draw the rest of the owl's attention span" lookin ass

holy shit!! artists!!! you guys!! pinlite.app someone made a pinterest facade site that just strips away all the dumb bullshit and gives you only the images this is AMAAZINNNGGGG. Not to mention the web 1.0 grey and blue link vibe lol

screenshot of PinLite, a skin of pinterest that's just taken away all the bs and only shows the images, on a grey web 1.0 background

powerscaling's such a funny concept, if only because one of the guys at the top of my list is "guy who knows how to swing baseball bat really, REALLY hard" in a setting where folks are using guns and magic on the regular

CSP's been my weapon of choice since back when it was still Manga Studio. It's not perfect (looking directly at you, text tools and lack of realtime CMYK editing), but if the freeware floating around isn't your thing and you hate Adobe-styled UI as much as i do, I say give it a shot

Anjin Anhut / available for freelance@anjinanhut.bsky.social · 4d ago

CSP is again 50% off, 1 time purchase. Literally the best dump-photoshop-now-app for digital illustration, concept art ect. (i can also do animation) I use it in freelance and in studio settings as an art team. Offer will end in less then 7 days. Try the free trial. GO! DUMP PHOTOSHOP NOW!

Speaking of eyes! The pupil does not rest directly on the outside of the eyeball. It's actually sunk in a bit, resting under the (somewhat raised) cornea. If you reflect this in your art - even your stylized art - it will make your characters seem more alive.

felt like doodling a tiny taiz in his "my hobbies are parkour and spinning this knife because despite working 12 hour shifts at the docks six days a week and sharing a 1 bedroom apartment with two other dudes i'm too poor for anything else" era

Bild

it started as "taiz gets laid out for like two weeks from an injury. it'd be kinda funny if he had some peach fuzz" and has turned into "maybe i should give pre-timeskip taiz the peach fuzz to accentuate the 19yo burnout look"

Bild

sometimes you wanna doodle a pretty girl looking kinda longing and what you wind up with is that one comic panel of an oldass man going "i don't know... that's scary..."

This kimono features an all-over kiredori (overlapping scraps) pattern rendered in a sophisticated palette of deep purples, rich burgundy, navy blue, golden yellow, and taupe, creating a dynamic mosaic effect that suggests both broken pottery and stained glass windows. 1926-1940, Japan

The silkscreened faux-shibori technique demonstrates the innovative adaptation of traditional resist-dyeing methods through mechanical reproduction, allowing for precise geometric forms that would be impossible to achieve through conventional hand-tied shibori processes.

The artistic approach strongly evokes the geometric abstraction and color field experiments of European modernist movements, particularly echoing the fragmented forms of Cubism and the bold color relationships explored in Fauvism and German Expressionism. This cross-cultural dialogue was characteristic of the Taishō and early Shōwa periods, when Japanese artists and designers were actively synthesizing Western modernist principles with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The kiredori motif itself carries symbolic resonance, suggesting the beauty found in fragments and the creative potential of reconstruction—themes particularly relevant during a period of rapid social and cultural transformation. The overall effect creates a sense of movement and energy that transforms the kimono into a wearable work of abstract art.

made the mistake of being ready 20 mins before i have to leave so now i'm just sitting here thinking about how if i do literally anything to pass the time right now i will probably explode or something

I was going over some of the trends/eras of illustration with my students today and Corporate Memphis created the most conversation. It was compared to a business man in a happy face mask, Arial & pop music. Good in contexts like brightening up a train station, bad in masking the cruelness of tech.
