A Bear Called Otter

Geeky Gen X bear, married to an amazing geeky wolf. Trying to put some joy in the world. Amateur VA, Professional Sad Gay. Babbling about cooking, baking, baking shows, horror movies, audio dramas, actual-plays, TTRPGs, and sometimes hiking.

So, An Extra Slice was burdened with a hokey and badly outdated format (I still loved it). Fair to replace it. But the new Second Helpings is sloppily put together and for some reason behaves as if it's an established show and not a new thing. Frustrating and clumsy use of talent.

Time to catch up on the Hammer Studios Frankenstein films for all four interested parties! Next is Frankenstein Created Woman (Terence Fisher, 1967). This movie is a curiosity. Cushing's Baron F is maaaybe at his least evil both the plot and performances that unfold are truly singular.

In case anyone needs this during our mourning, it's a cuppa (self rising) flour, cuppa sugar, cuppa fruit cocktail, with the juice. If you don't have self-rising flour, add a tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt. Also cake flour/bleached flour if you have it. Truvy probably had White Lily.

Ah, Final Wars. Sometimes it's the best Godzilla movie, sometimes it's the worst. It really depends on your mood. This was an excellent episode. They're nearly out of films. Wtf am I going to do without Skreeonk? 😭

The third film in Hammer's Frankenstein series, Evil of Frankenstein (Freddie Francis, 1964) finds Hammer and Universal in a whole new relationship. The perfect opportunity to retcon somethings that and pair Cushing with a flat-topped green skinned creature. Amusing for just existing, but not great.

Movie poster advertises The Evil of Frankenstein film showing Peter Cushing as Victor Frankenstein, flanked by a fearful woman and his heavy-browed creature.
