Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research. I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
Nsikan Akpan@monscience.bsky.social · 2y agoNIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research. Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
this year i've been trying to get a bit better about reading (and reading more widely) and hoping to make it to 20 books before the end of the year... only 3 left now...
its always super lovely and fulfilling running these events and seeing how excited the kids get. well done to the HLS outreach team for organising a great day out and providing us with the opportunity!
CBF@cbflivuni.bsky.social · 2y agolast saturday we partnered with @livunihls.bsky.social's public engagement team for their regular 'meet the scientists' event at the eureka! science + discovery museum. our stall (led by @ejjohnson93.bsky.social) aimed to show that scientists can be programmers too and was a huge success!
