What a special place! We are back at HoneyRock, Wheaton College’s camp in the Northwoods of WI, where I’m serving as Camp Pastor for a couple weeks preaching and leading devotionals for staff. Camp was a pivotal part of my faith journey as a kid so it’s such a privilege to serve in this way.
I just received my contributor copies of the new issue of The Mockingbird, The Law & Gospel. Honored to be among this group of talented writers! Check out my article, “She Who Hangs Out in Cemeteries.” aka #marymagdalene #mockingbird #themaryweforgot
Talk about thoughtful! I wasn’t able to attend the awards ceremony in Nashville, where my book was a finalist for ECPA Book of the year. In its place, I received this celebratory letter highlighting the recognition of *The Mary We Forgot* Brazos Press. #honored #encouraged Next book in the works!
Some news! I recently accepted an invitation to be a Senior Fellow in the The Center for Pastor Theologians. I’m grateful for this community of ministry leaders and scholars, and the ways our gatherings have enriched my writing and speaking.
Coming soon! I’m thrilled to have a piece in the Law & Gospel issue of The Mockingbird Magazine. My essay is entitled, “She who Hangs out in Cemeteries” #themaryweforgot What is the particular significance of Mary Magdalene at the tomb? I can’t wait to share it with you.
Many thanks to @jpowellmcnutt.bsky.social for this endorsement of my new book, *Why I am Protestant*, coming soon from @ivpress.bsky.social Preorders are open now! amzn.to/43qJmka

Grateful for this nomination of *The Mary We Forgot* in the category of Religion/Philosophy!
"What I found most refreshing about her book is her genuine love of our amazing Jesus, and how she was able to demonstrate that Mary Magdalene’s relationship with Jesus helps all believers, men and women, better know our Lord." @jpowellmcnutt.bsky.social www.cbeinternational.org/resource/boo...

"In 'forgetting' Mary for who she was, we have also 'undervalued' her as 'the first witness to the resurrection, and overlooked, particularly in the Western church, as the 'apostle to the apostles,’'." @jpowellmcnutt.bsky.social www.thebanner.org/mixed-media/...

This Holy Week I've been reflecting on two of the women who witnessed the death of Christ in a profoundly personal way. I hope my reflections deepen your gratitude for the cross this weekend. With thanks to @jpowellmcnutt.bsky.social comeonaileenblog.com/two-marys-at...
Two Marys at the Cross: The Body Keeps the Score
At the crucifixion of Christ, two women experienced the battle of good and evil within their own bodies as lightning flashed above the cross.

Today, I walked down the street where Zürich reformer Zwingli once lived to the Theology Faculty at the University of Zürich. At the invitation of the Reformation Institute, I taught a class on the Reformation and the Bible. Students were a delight, and I left just glowing #ILoveBibles Thankful!

Just had the final edits accepted for my first article in Mockingbird Magazine, and I’m grateful. Can’t wait to share my piece on Mary Magdalene’s Witness. If you don’t know the magazine it’s exquisitely done: artistic, richly theological, culturally attuned, etc. Highly recommend! mbird.com

We loved having @jpowellmcnutt.bsky.social at the Baker Book House last night to discuss her book, The Mary We Forgot! It was a snowy, February evening, and a great group gathered to listen and learn about Mary Magdalene, the Apostle to the Apostles. Thank you to everyone who came! 💛
