This is a multimedia piece I've been wanting to do for months, character is painted in acrylics on a digital photo manipulation printed background. Also, it's been a while since my monthly experiments had a more playful tone!

This is a mixture of digital and traditional process. First I edited a photo background and added a digital line sketch, which I got printed on imitation canvas, and then finished by painting the character with acrylics. The piece is pretty big - 104 x 139 cm.

The background is a photo of an old wine basement, appearing like a cave with brick walls. I edited it to get a blue and green-yellow palette.

The character is sitting on the floor in the center of the cave, grinning. The nose, mouth and eyes are the only other part of this piece that was done digitally, as I was unsure if I could paint the sharp edges of the design.
He's wearing a hooded cape, which gives the impression of an invisible coat, as its colours reflect the colour of the background in a blurry way. He's wearing a black shirt which extends into a loin cloth with a green, zig-zag edge. The shape of the hood covering his face is a heart. His face is partially shadowed, while red fiery hair is sticking out on the leftside.

He's wearing gauntlets, which are shaded in much more delicate detail than the rest of the character. The metallic shading also extends to the wavy-bladed sword. His boots are red and black, with a somewhat checkered pattern.

Behind him is a wall which is transparent in the middle, having a dreamlike impression. On the wall of the cave which took on the greenish-yellow tint in the photomanipulation process, I painted a torch with a green flame. On the upper left part of the painting is a yellow moon crescent.

Lastly on the top right edge of the painting are a couple of crystals, catching the colours of their surroundings, which makes them almost invisible until you notice them. I really love how these turned out.

every day they are torturing people from information sharing cultures (gossips) because of silly little things like scheduled announcements

queueing up some books on the subject, and already fascinated with how american writers arrived at their particular mode of interacting with text (through guidebooks and workshops). something that was very consciously built, in a very specific moment of history, but that was built to seem "natural"

soon it'll be the one year anniversary of the diagnosis that turned my life on its head and told me that I'd better learn to live upside down. I am not sure if this down is up existence is sustainable long term (modern medicine, please come through soon) but I have certainly learned a lot from it

I’m glad that there’s been more coverage of this, but I must also point out that we - the actual Lebanese - have been saying that Israel’s goal is to make south Lebanon unliveable for nearly 2 years. I said this myself multiple times. We are simply not believed *because* we are Lebanese.

A turkey vulture perches high in a dead snag along St. Vrain Creek as the moon sets in Longmont, Colorado.

In this horizontal color photograph, a turkey vulture perches atop the forked branches of a dead snag, its head turned to the right as it surveys the landscape below. Positioned in the left side of the frame, the bird stands against a brilliant blue sky; a signature of Colorado's more than 300 days of sunshine each year. In the upper right corner, a Waning Gibbous Moon hangs above the horizon. This lunar phase follows the Full Moon, with the illuminated portion gradually decreasing each night.

This photograph is a focus stack created from two separate images. The first photograph was focused on the turkey vulture, while the second was focused on the moon. When using a super-telephoto lens, it is not physically possible to render both the nearby bird and the distant moon perfectly sharp in a single exposure because of the extremely shallow depth of field. By carefully combining the two images during post-processing, both subjects appear in sharp focus.
