eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

Screenshot from a section of eBay UK's r User Privacy Notice.
It reads:
AI model training

When training, testing, and improving generative AI models, we rely primarily on publicly available data. Some public datasets may incidentally include personal data, and in some cases we may also use certain user personal data, such as information about your use of our Services, including the items you list, sell, view, or buy, where we determine it is necessary and proportionate for a specific use (for example, to train AI models that improve product recommendations). Prior to training, we take steps to mitigate potential privacy impacts, such as de-identifying the data or applying other privacy-preserving techniques. In some jurisdictions, the data used for training as described in this section is not considered personal data; where our AI training does involve personal data as defined under applicable law, including in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, the legal basis of our legitimate interest is set out in section 3.4.

See section 6 for more details on your rights. To learn more about specific training use cases and our processing of your personal data for generative AI training purposes, including the right to object to such processing for certain users, visit our Artificial Intelligence at eBay page.

What makes a monster? I’m looking for reprints for Grimdark Magazine: morally gray SFF, under 10,000 words. Any corner of the SFF welcome. Especially keen on stories that complicate who—or what—we call monstrous. No SA, no fridging. Email: beth@Grimdarkmagazine.com

I feel like there's a "rot" in the voiceover industry right now. It's something that's probably always been there, but I think it's been progressively getting worse. There's this strange attitude that can basically be summed up as, "F*ck y'all. I got mine." And I'd like to talk about it. 🧵

New: As gay bars across the country say that Meta is flagging and deactivating their accounts without warning, I spoke to an Austin queer bar that says Meta nearly destroyed their ability to advertise events: www.chron.com/culture/arti...

How Meta's new content moderation upended a Texas gay bar

At least one LGBTQ establishment in Texas says the social media giant has incorrectly disabled its social media account, potentially hurting business.

200kg did not want to be deadlifted today. I don't mind posting failed attempts, because I like to br able to look back and see the progress. This was frustrating, though. 1 more inch and I could have finished it with a hitch.

Okay, looks like I have stock of most things for the book con. I only have 1/2 a table, so I don't think I need to restock some of the smaller anthologies for this one. 3-5 copies of everything else, so given it's a small con, I think that will be enough.

A lot of people assume FA is profitable. If that were the case we wouldn't have needed a GFM when Neer passed to keep it out of probate. It's been two years. The funds were used. FA is struggling financially. And I am 🌟s t r e s s e d🌟 I'm scared to ask for help, I feel like no matter how much-

Received an email scam offering a 'cinematic trailer' for a multi-author furry anthology I appeared in around 8 years go. Played with them a little, then got bored. This was my final email to them before I hit block. What do you reckon? Did I get my point across? #writersky

A few more hours to go, then my employer officially no longer exists. This CIC has been my work home for over 5 years now, and it'll be sad to see it end. We're being merged with a larger body, and I think my job should be safe, so that's good. Still it seems weird to think the company that took

beleive me when i tell you, you are more clever, more well written, more developed, more creative, more hardworking than any generated ai/ai made thing. Please dont outsource yourself to a half cooked vibe coded program… pleaaasse.

Strongman comp season is done, so now I can focus on other stuff. Halloween: going to be selling/signing books and stickers at Medway River Lit Festival in Chatham Library. Fursuit Making: my Utahraptor mask is coming along nicely.

A collage advertising my upcoming book con appearance and showing progress for my fursuit mask.

Happy Drawlloween!! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 As always I try to include some prompts that I don't typically see on these lists, so if you're like me and have done this challenge many times, a few of these might be new to ya.

Rowling and Emma Watson's argument is painful to watch😢 Good-hearted transgender people never intend to hurt anyone else. They just want to love who they want to love and live according to their soul's direction. Chiitan stands by the hearts of good-hearted transgender people. I love everyone

Ugh. Still no reply from my old church. I just wanna know if there's a way to remove myself from their records, seeing as I've not been Catholic for a long time. And want even less to be associated with it given the current "Christian" mob here. I think I'm gonna have to actually go down there...
