I am here in Congress as Democratic Senators prepare to hear live testimony from those hit hardest by the Trump admin’s delegalization campaign—the largest effort in US history to strip protections and status from immigrants, many who have lived here for years.   Over 1 million are already impacted.

Democrats will take back the House this fall, and maybe even the Senate due in part to a last-minute change in Maine. All they have to do is not screw up for the next two months. President Trump and his party are that unpopular.

Democratic control of Congress won’t be the only change on the Hill in January. We’re already seeing GOP candidates in Michigan, Iowa, and Florida distance themselves from an unpopular president to remain in office. I expect some other Republicans to feel emboldened to do the same.

The cost of diesel fuel is at a record high while Trump is encouraging big tech to continue building enormous data centers in our backyards. These consequences of Trumps’s self-serving polices and my Republican colleagues’ mindless support for them have become the reality for millions of Americans.

My goal as County Attorney is simple: we target criminals, not entire communities. The answer to crime isn’t to villainize entire groups of minority communities. As a Black man, I’ve experienced this my entire life; unnecessary blame and persecution for the actions of others.

It is barbaric that Americans owe $220 BILLION in medical debt. In the richest country on Earth, healthcare should be a right—not a debt sentence. We must *finally* eliminate medical debt and deliver Medicare for All.

Africa’s future is our future. Honored to have hosted the CBC ALC Africa Braintrust panel to discuss innovation on the continent. As the only African-born member of Congress, I’m proud to work to ensure Africa's future is inclusive and built for the people.

The Hyde Amendment blocks federal funds from being used for abortion care. This means women on Medicaid have to pay for abortion care out-of-pocket, making access to abortion dependent on economic status. The Hyde Amendment is discriminatory, and it’s past time we repeal it.

Settlers are driving Palestinians from their homes in a violent land grab. Sanctions can stop it. I'm introducing legislation—alongside Reps. Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, Escobar—that imposes sanctions against anyone looking to take Palestinian land in the West Bank or Gaza.

I for one think it’s bad that the president can just say crazy stuff all day every day and 99% of it doesn’t make the news because we’ve normalized having an insane president
