i don't accept the argument that if you cut foreign aid—even valuable, well targeted foreign aid (which some of usaid was)—you're responsible for killing people.

Today is Spock's fourth birthday, so we spoiled him by going to the beach to play in the sea. It's cloudy and 16 C so not a weather that makes you WANT to do that, but anything for our birthday boy.

Alexander nearly ran over a hedgehog with the lawnmower: She was lying flat on her stomach, completely still, one hind leg stretched out behind her. I Ducked for wild animal rehabs, what to do. Then she woke up, pulled her leg back in, and waddled into the bushes. Wonder what had happened. (1/2)

Back from a roadtrip further up north: Luleå, Boden, Jokkmokk, Arvidsjaur, Storuman, Lycksele, home again. Pretty towns, beautiful nature and scenery. And every teeny-tiny village sports fast chargers for electric vehicles. Driving an EV up here couldn't be any easier.

Teachers complain that kids use AI to pass their exams, but this is nothing new. Philip K Dick said an AI helped him pass the necessary exam to get into college. However, since it was the 1940s, the AI was a voice that only he could hear, not a smartphone app. Even AI-cheating was harder back then.

Reading about Philip K Dick getting a Rorschach test in therapy; made me remember when my psychologist gave me one in 1997 or thereabouts (she was a Rorschach specialist). My result was "very serious" (she didn't say more than that). Out of curiousity, #philpsy - is Rorschach still a thing?
