Mostly photos of things, mostly from around the Glasgow area.
An Osprey takes flight from the post it had been resting on as dog walkers approach through the timber ponds near Parklea. The Clyde and Dumbarton Rock in the background. #birds
Two of four (maybe five) l Kingfishers I met around Glasgow today. The one on the left was waiting for me on a log above the waterfall on the Cart at Linn Park, the one on the right was on the Kelvin in Kelvingrove Park. Both look like adult males. #birds
A walk by the Clyde at Longhaugh Point tonight. For 2.5 hours nothing was showing and as it got darker I decided to head home. Then in the space of 5 mins, Osprey landed in a distant tree with a fish, two foxes appeared, Kestrel crossed the field followed by Buzzard. Poor record shots only. #birds
Some moving pictures of Little Grebes feeding young at Queens park pond in Glasgow a few days ago. #birds
You'll need to take my word for it that this shows a 3-way Kingfisher ding-dong under the Queen Margaret Bridge in Glasgow tonight. Two (probably young) birds sitting quietly when another, probably adult, came along and it all kicked off, two ending up in the water before they all flew off. #birds
Back in May I photographed two Mute Swan cygnets at Rouken Glen park near Glasgow. Yesterday both young swans were still at the pond with their parents, now adult-sized but not yet in fully white plumage. #birds
The adult Great Crested Grebe has caught a sizeable fish and swims off to wrestle it down, leaving hungry junior Great Crested Grebe trailing so far behind i couldn't get them both in the same frame. Taken from a very crowded Blue Bridge in St James's Park, London. #birds
Not much time for taking new photos just now, because work and family stuff, but i still have a few pics to rinse from recent London trip. Here's a Heron looking at you looking back at Heron. #birds
More Kingfisher pics from Saturday on the River Kelvin in Glasgow. This is an adult male bird and he's busy expelling a pellet. All the indigestible stuff eaten (fish bones, scales, etc) needs to come out and this is how it happens. #birds
A young Kingfisher on the River Kelvin in Glasgow, Saturday 15th August. With dark feet and white tip to the beak, this looks like a fairly new arrival, which may mean our resident West End Kingfishers have had a second or maybe even a third brood this year. #birds
An Osprey hovering as it hunts over Cardross Bay yesterday afternoon. It didn't dive so there's no splash. I really should carry the tripod and maybe, like, use it, for stuff like this. #birds
A House Martin skimming along the shoreline at Cardross Bay yesterday. The reflection in the background is from a traffic cone that's been stuck on top of a post in the water. #birds
I shot loads of this but in the end could only find a few seconds that was semi-usable. This is slowed to about a fifth of real speed. A very fast and unpredictable Common Tern fishing over the Heron Pond at Bushy Park, London. #birds
I didn't do the eclipse thing tonight so here are some scenes of red deer in Bushy Park, London, from last week instead.
Four new Pelicans hatched in St James's Park in London this spring, the first time the Pelicans have bred in the park in 350+ years. I've visited a couple of times since then but didn't get sight; finally caught up with them last week and one posed briefly in the evening sun. #birds
Mandarin duck family in the Woodland Gardens, Bushy Park, London, from the end of June this year. #birds
