A sign of things to come as AI clones are about to become the norm: two games with practically the same name and gameplay released on the same day. Plus the extra vile “Woman Simulator”. Steam is turning into a garbage dump.

Two Tidy Up The Museum games from different devs released on same day. And Woman Simulator too. Steam is hell.

This is an incredible investigation showing how former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick weaponized our WSJ investigation into him to silence other news media over many years (linking our OG reporting below)

For nearly two years, I've been investigating a pattern of ominous legal letters sent to journalists by defamation counsel representing Bobby Kotick. That investigation is finally live. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKwp...

Tried to celebrate Out Run’s 40th by playing the PC Engine version on Analogue Pocket, but sadly the OpenFPGA core is causing this horrible glitch - both with the HuCard/adapter and with a ROM. I’ve emailed @analogue.bsky.social and hoping for a fix. It’s not exactly an obscure game!

That's cool. I'm sure all the BitReactor devs that were furloughed weeks before launch are gonna see some of that $50 million... right? Residuals are standard in other creative industries. If the people who actually made the game got their share of the profits, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Star Wars Zero Company is estimated to have sold 1 million copies, with the majority of those sales coming from Steam, which Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott estimates has generated around $50 million since last month’s launch. https://bit.ly/4xKTiku

I don't know what's more terrifying, that they think they can sell $1000 consoles, $100 games that are made by no one except Bobby Kotick typing "Make me a Call of Duty game" into Grok; or the fact that this might actually work.

microsoft have essentially bought up and bulldozed almost an entire american arts industry as a half-hearted distraction from their main project of trying to monopolise and rent-seek global digital infrastructure and military contracts

We’re eliminating roles at Primal Scream, where remaining staff will play as session musicians for Oasis under a new organisational structure. Oasis is proud to announce that pre-production has begun on a new follow-up to Screamadelica.

Yup, as I’ve been saying. The publish-games-by-wishlist-numbers model is dying fast in the age of AI. Soon after your future indie hit goes viral, a series of AI clones will come out… and before your game. Kinda like the twats sending links to bootleg shirts as soon as you mention a t-shirt.

I have been telling folks for years not to worry about cloning and focus on your own creative process. To focus on building your own audience and franchise as a protection against cloning. But AI coding specifically is drastically changing this. I stand by the advice for now....but.

Hello! I would be curious to know how Bungie workers feel about today’s pivot and how the studio is being managed in general. If you’re a company employee with views on the matter, please do get in touch. Happy to chat confidentially. DMs open. Signal: kerrblimey.43
