Unsolicited cancer advice is annoying (and usually involves dodgy supplements) but this tip is nutrition-based so I’m throwing it out to the universe in case it can help someone else. When my weight became a critical issue I was prescribed supplemental nutrition drinks. I couldn’t stand them
The TIL that number three is a common goal. It’s been on my goal list since day one! Also, being told to eat more when you have no appetite and food tastes like literal mulch…This list is so accurate. Hang in there peeps, it’s better than the alternative.
Things I’ve learned (so far) about having cancer, an evolving list: 1. More people can rock a bald head than think they can 2. Being told to eat more when you have no appetite/no sense of taste is some fucking cruel irony 3. “I have to outlive that shitstain in the WH“ is a surprisingly common goal
No deep thoughts, vibes only, half-time show review - that felt like a warm hug. ❤️
Narrow your gaze to what's in front of you, not the whole world and all its grief. Focus on one small thing at a time that you actually can influence.
Facebook is so problematic but it felt like the best place to reach the broadest spectrum of people in my life. Since I’ve basically been MIA for the past year - a health update. www.facebook.com/share/p/1BYW...

This is the most Liz Topic Ever and she excels! I can’t count how many times we wandered into this territory on @veritypodcast.bsky.social and it was always smart and entertaining. How could a whole book be anything less than amazing?
I have book news!! Where We Stand, Where We Fall is now available to preorder from Herne Books:
So much fun recording my first podcast in over a year! (I’d say it was like riding a bike but I had to ask @legopolis.bsky.social how to actually *record* the thing. Cancer Brain is real, yo). Anyway, if you like silly games and a silly villain check it out. www.theincomparable.com/gameshow/261/

In this installment of the 1955 edition of Careers, one player is a slick politician, one player is a business tycoon, and one player…gets hit by a karma.

I struggle with carbonation these days so why, with the wisdom of all my years, did I order a coke - from McDONALD’s? Sweet Jesus. The price for that sweet hit was too high.
I should be heading to the airport, on my way to @gallifreyone.bsky.social and some of my favorite people in the whole world. Unfortunately, this year cancer made other plans. I’ll miss connecting with friends, @veritypodcast.bsky.social listeners and basking in the shared joy that is #gally1
On indefinite leave from work as I prepare for Significant Surgery. Finally combing through my “low stress, low risk” media list. First up “All Creatures Great and Small”. So charming! Anne of Green Gables is next in the queue. (Did I mention low stress?). Have any low stress media recs? LMK!
Oh, hey, ICYMI, @veritypodcast.bsky.social dropped an ep about Joy to the World veritypodcast.wordpress.com/2024/12/31/s...

To any fellow knitters/fibercraft folk - have you ever had a project that was just too infused with sadness to finish? I had a yarn that was bought during a not-great holiday, started knitting as stress relief during a Bad Time, set aside then picked up again a week before the election. 1/2
This has been a year of serious health issues but I swear - fall allergies (which I’ve NEVER had) as a result of the drought have laid me out. The coughing is the worst and I’m incredibly cranky. The climate change gloom is real.
Serious question- where are we going to for accurate, unbiased news these days? (I know, I’m laughing at that sentence too). My faith has been shaken but I want to be informed without being blatantly rage-baited.
I am being FELLED by allergies this week. I’m going curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and check out this Doctor Odyssey thing. (Posting about dumb TV = contributing to the Bluesky Vibe, right?)
And I don't tell anyone else how to navigate social media, but with the torrent of refugees arriving from Twitter, I me personally myself am preparing to block the shit out of people who aim to replicate its forever war experience here.
I find that brawling is so severely frowned on here that I’m never (well, hardly ever) inspired to participate in it, and it not only makes being here much more congenial than the other place but might actually be improving my general mental state. Go figure.
And that’s it. I’m not going to add to doomscroll fodder here. We all know what things are horrific and likely to get worse (if you’re celebrating this win a) why are you here? and b) fuck all the way off). I care, deeply, about my friends and family and will work, boots on the ground, to help. 1/2
“It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis. Published 1935. Add it to “The Handmaid’s Tale” dystopian fascist starter pack. Read this in high school as curious, antique relic. *laughs in naivety*
“Huh, who could have seen that coming?” A phrase I will be overusing for the next four years.
Complete Dem PA Voter Package: “I Voted” sticker, double strand of pearls and a Wawa coffee.
My personal Tom Holland Umbrella Moment: if I scroll past the 2010 movie RED I will stop and watch. Every. Single. Time. Dumb fun and I love every minute of it. #sickday
Fantastic first day of #gally1 so far. Great conversation on the Podcast panel, smart interviews and a stellar @radiofreeskaro.bsky.social live. BUT the best is yet to come - tonight is Fan Video Happy Hour! #FVHH
I freakin’ love this movie. I’m so pleased I had the opportunity to share that love!
Agents of SMOOCH are back with The Big Easy. We have Dennis Quaid seducing Ellen Barkin amid a murder investigation. The investigation pulls them apart making us wonder: Will they or won’t they? With @debstanish.bsky.social and @shellybrisbin.bsky.social www.theincomparable.com/smooch/112/
I love Jacqueline King’s interview regarding her decision not to have children - honest and real - but a man would NEVER have to justify that decision. #gally1
Love hearing Amanda-Rae Prescott interview costume designer Ray Holman. So glad she asked him about the role he has in helping along the next generation of costume designers, loved his answer too. #gally1
Gally pre-flight coffee at the ass end of the airport. What are those single digit gates like? I’ve never met one.
