Things I did while running a Monte Carlo simulation: - Put out a lab newsletter and event recap YouTube video - Met with three mentees - Graded 9 grad students' neuroanatomy final projects - Organized and sent out lab updates - 3D printed a brain - Oversaw a CAB meeting and still simulating . . .

Ok this now has to become a very close second, because I just got news that I received a University Research Grant from Wayne State! It is such a joy to be here, & I am immensely grateful for the institution's investment in our work @ruvvyresiliencelab.bsky.social. @waynestateclas.bsky.social

Getting the best birthday present from #F1, Miami Race Weekend starting on my birthday tomorrow! We've waited long and hard and we are ready to be back. How fitting that my team member so generously gifted me Susie Wolff's book "Driven" for my birthday too! Feeling so grateful and excited 🤩✨

Ok, I have to say having a #grant go from waiting on an NOA that never game to not discussed is pretty soul-crushing 😢 Grateful to have multiple irons in the fire and hoping for better outcomes for the next three on the horizon. I continue to learn to practice what I preach about #resilience! #NIH

Four NIH grants currently under review; last night had nightmares about scores so that's where I am at right now 😅 How is everyone else doing this weekend?! 🫠

Our undergraduate volunteer, Naga Alyamani, made this beautiful poster to distill our message for anyone who wants to learn more about our lab's mission. We are so proud of Naga and grateful for her efforts in science communication. If you get our newsletter, she is the person putting it together!

Fourth book of 2026 was a memoir of a patient/author's therapeutic journey. While a bit dry at times, I found it quite impactful for someone to share so transparently in such an eye-opening way. Book 4 of ? in 2026: I want to die but I want to eat tteokbokki by Baek Sehee (+ more Korea pictures)

Third book of 2026 was a profound short story collection found in Seoul bookstore Kyobo while visiting Korea for my dear friend's birthday. Reading these stories helped me gain a small bit of insight into a rich culture that is so new to me. Book 3 of ? in 2026: Shoko's Smmile by Choi Eunyoung

One of my mentors and I both have #NIH grants under review today, so everyone please cross your fingers and toes and put good vibes out into the world for quality feedback and scores that reflect the efforts and scientific work we've committed to these projects we are passionate about!

I feel like the luckiest person ever to see all my dreams coming true--leading science I am passionate about, working with the most incredible team, and being able to cultivate a positive work environment for best success of not just the lab but each team member, both professionally & personally. 🥹

We had a wonderful evening celebrating with our extended family (lab members + their families) last night for our first of certainly many potluck events! Everyone brought a dish that represented their culture/heritage, we created an art piece together for the lab, and we bonded! So grateful 🩷💚🧠

I was so nervous for this but appreciated the support from my new friend Domenic from the Michigan Science Center! Always love working with the folks at #MiSci and enthusiastic to bring #BrainDay back to the Science Center again this year for #BrainAwarenessWeek! @waynestateclas.bsky.social

Loving having our lab members create #newsletters that reflect what they're learning & experiencing in their personal lives, & how those experiences link into our lab's mission towards understanding the #neuroscience of #resilience. You can read this week's newsletter below; #subscribe while there!
