🚀rockit network engineer 👩🏼‍💻ethernet fangirl 🛜 weird use cases & silly tech! 💌 tracket@tracketpacer.com 🌎 tracketpacer.com

working in aerospace means that every male software engineer i’ve ever talked to starts out by saying “i don’t know anything about networking, but” & then proceeds to argue with me for 20 minutes about why their idea of how the network should work is better than mine

found out recently that the protein powder i’ve been eating consistently for several years apparently has higher-than-safe levels of lead & arsenic in it. so maybe that explains some things huh

Mike & i recently tested 295 ft of uncoiled CAT6 for science TL;DR - the heat caused both coiled & uncoiled tests with the same cable to fail CAT6, but otherwise the results between them were so close we came to the conclusion that coiled vs uncoiled makes very little difference in performance 👍🏼

(shame sign hanging from my neck in the lab at work: ) my name is lexie ive been a network engineer for 7 years & i do not know how to remove a NIC from a server

i don’t think i’ll ever be fully done grieving my old girl, but i miss having a dog around so much. so i’m looking to rescue again. trying my best to do due diligence. Mae was lightning in a bottle, so keeping expectations low. would just love to have a wagging tail & cuddly snoot around again

god i loathe the enshittification of the internet how about i just have whatever followers i have without trying to squeeze every last drop of $$ i possibly can from all interactions with other human beings. i know this is a privileged position to take but these emails piss me off so much

people who use AI to make stuff 99% of the time announce loudly it to the rest of the world using language that implies THEY made the stuff, THEY coded it. ask them directly if they made that shit. it always comes out that they prompted it out of an LLM

ngl i’m getting kinda exhausted from being expected to be various parts firmware engineer, electrical engineer, network engineer, software engineer. i do miss being just a network engineer

cybersecurity is hilarious bc a hacker will be known by a name like siD3w4ys_d4rKst4r or some shit & it’s just a middle aged dude w glasses who coaches his kids’ soccer team

bought a bunch of “CAT7/CAT8” cables off amazon and, well… here are the test results of the first one. can’t pass CAT6a, debatable on CAT5e!! 🫣
