i'm on book #7 for the year which is almost certainly the most i've read in a single year since my late teens/early twenties 🔥 they've all been very good: mexican gothic in january and then i've been working my way through the malazan series, currently on book #6: the bonehunters

during WW2 the US army found its own strategic bombing campaign to be quite ineffective but suppressed the reports out of 'respect' for the widows and families of all the dead bomber crews (they had something like a 75% casualty rate). and that's been the main military strategy since then, strange.
