That whole "Fight, Fight" tough guy act in Pennsylvania two years ago was obviously performative... Scurrying out under the cover of decoys plays more to type.
Trump Used Own Staff as Decoy During Iranian Assassination Threat Donald Trump let the press pool and some of his staff think he was on Air Force One, while really he had been smuggled in a catering cart onto a different plane.
Reflections on Ashokan Music and Dance Camp... A wonderful gathering of young and old, making music here in the Catskills. It is a place where folks feel good about reaching for and trying new things.
Hotel still life, with my favorite, battered old Stetson Open Road... I stencil all my luggage, by the way. Makes it easy at the baggage carousel.
When Joe Biden's time comes, he will likely not be allowed to lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda, or be afforded the usual respect due a former president upon their death. But, no matter where his services take place, a sea of "We the People" will show up to pay our respects. A fitting tribute.
Coffee Diem. Last day in Elkins, WV. On to upstate New York.
After a week of cafeteria food, I treated myself. Happy boy.
After a week of teaching, I am having a lazy day off here in Elkins, WV. Had a delicious Flat White, a good lunch, and a fine walk around town between rain showers. Nap time now!
I love this photo of a fun jam session with Betse Ellis (L) and Violet Hensley, taken right after Violet did her patented "speed up at the end of the tune" move. I hung on for a while, but in the end she won, as she always did! Violet passed away today at the age of 109. May she Rest in Peace.
Coffee Diem. Flat White was on today's menu. It was tip top.
A great first day of teaching at the Augusta Heritage Center, Elkins, West Virginia.
A reminder... If you start a comment with "I've got to say..." No, you don't.
Two days to go until Mitch McConnell takes a turn for the worse.
July's furnace banks its heat, awaiting August. (Photo taken in southern Illinois.)
"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." ~ Dalai Lama. "I will always love you." ~ Dalai Parton.
Heading out on a 2-week run. A beautiful day to travel.
A truly sweet moment... At the ice cream stand last night after dinner (I just went along, nothing for me) a youngster was walking away with a triple cone. She looked at it, then gave out with a delighted chortle that broke up everyone standing in line.
At the Karma Cafe, the meal always ends with just desserts...
Coffee Diem. By the way, I'm thinking about making Coffee Diem wristbands for my merch table. Any interest?
I remember watching the first moon landing with my family on July 20, 1969. I was 11, just about to turn 12. We gathered around the Sylvania entertainment center for a show that was truly out of this world. 1/3
My overnight flight last night featured... Passenger request to change seats. Crying babies. Seat kicking. Manspreading (not me). Dealt with each as kindly as I could, but directly. Worked okay, except for the crying babies, bless them. But, that is what earplugs are for. Still, flying is a marvel.
