'Woke' was never a word meant for anyone outside of the Black community. Like so many other things, it was stolen, colonized, and whitewashed. The NAACP 'took the word back' for a reason. Most folks using it, don't know its history, or how to properly use it. naacp.org/resources/re...

Nathan Goldwag @goldwagnathan.bsky.social · 3d agoI enjoy making jokes about "Woke 2" as much as the next person, but I do think people should remember that "woke" wasn't an organization or movement, it's an incredibly vague term being used to summarize up the retrospective impression of the zeitgeist over several decades, it doesn't mean anything.
