When you hear the owners crying poverty after the season is over and locking out the players, remember this. Baseball is awash in money. I have zero sympathy for the owners.

You simply can’t believe anything MLB owners say about financial hardship; the very act of owning a baseball team is printing money.
Don’t look now, but this completely improbable Red Sox team is just 2.5 behind the Yankees for the top AL wild card spot.
As Joe Morgan would have said, Tolle spun a beauty. The Sox needed it, breaking a five game losing streak.

I don’t envy the sports writers who have to explain what happened at the end of the top of the 7th in Toronto, but both teams forgot how many outs there were. The runner on third, trotted home without tagging .The inning ended and after much discussion, the Red Sox were awarded a run. 🤷

I expected the bubble to burst when the Red Sox came back from the break, but they improbably swept the Rays in a double header. This with their spring training lineup. I’m still having trouble believing in this team.
The Red Sox went an improbable 9-0 on their pre ASB road trip. Yet they are still a deeply flawed baseball team. What bugs me is they might think they can be buyers now and they should absolutely sell Sonny Grey, Aroldis Chapman and one or two of their utility players to the highest bidders.
Only 34 when he reached 300. Most now believe we will never see another 300 game winner. Today’s pitchers throw harder and break down frequently. I wonder what was different in that era. Even as recently as the 70s teams had 4-man rotations. I remember Luis Tiant throwing 150 pitches.

Alex Cora and almost his whole coaching staff were fired yesterday. I’m on record being frustrated with this season, but this move makes the Red Sox look like clowns. How can you replace all those people mid season? And if you’re pulling from the minors what does that do to player development?
