Warlocks (~);} ❤️⭐🌻🌹💙🎶🕊️ October 9, 1989 Hampton Coliseum: In the fall of 1989, the Grateful Dead had reacted another pinnacle in their performing prowess. Jerry’s playing, as they say in Iowa, was charming the birds out of the trees.

In a last-ditch effort to defuse the problems caused by unruly fans outside arenas, the Dead performed two shows billed as “Formerly the Warlocks” at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia on October 8 and 9, 1989. . With general admission tickets only sold locally and regionally, there was less craziness and law enforcement trouble than usual outside the two clandestine gigs. . The Hampton shows featured a number of rare jewels. On the 8th, after a hiatus, the Dead broke out “Help on the Way” > “Slipknot !” and encored with “And We Bid You Goodnight,” which they had just returned to the rotation in July. . It seemed the entire song catalog was in play. . “[1989] was the high point of that era,” recalled Weir. “We were hot, feeling our oats, and surprising each other onstage. We could hear and feel each other thinking, and we could intuit each other’s moves.”>>>>
