Some new work for @racketmn.com where I talk about the emergence of cultural coffeehouses in the Twin Cities, driven by the ongoing opening/expansion of Yemeni coffeehouses, and how they are a change up from the cafes and coffee shops currently offered: racketmn.com/slow-down-cu...

“Hey, y’all played a heck of a game out there. We may not have won, but y’all definitely succeeded. I mean, you gave the champs 90 minutes of hell.” —Ted Lasso …and that’s all the thoughts I got on Egypt Vs. Argentina today.

YO! I didn’t expect this at all until @cheycab.bsky.social brought it to my attention this afternoon. Please contribute to support Urban Lights Music: A Community Treasure: gofund.me/a9b9b6193 This screengrab was from S1 E1 of Tacos & Tastemakers, which you can watch here: youtu.be/xfevhg1-ohA?...

Urban Lights is the Twin Cities’ only Black-owned record store.

Went to my local cafe where they played “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles, and I expressed to them as well as having this moment in my memory, recollecting how The Bangles were the first band ever in my musical timeline. 🧵

The Dinkytowner raised me, and my favorite memory is loaning DJ Stage One my headphones one evening. I will never ever live that memory (and many others) down. Thanks @matoswk.bsky.social for allowing me to contribute some quotes of my memories for your incredible piece in @racketmn.com today!

"Everybody's got some fuzzy Dinkytowner memories." My newest for @racketmn.com: an epic 9k-word oral history of the most storied Minneapolis venue of the 2000s. Freestyle rap battles! Indie rock on the rise! Techno all night! Tex-Mex, anyone? racketmn.com/dinkytowner-...

Is it too poetic to have heard “Down in a Hole” by Alice in Chains whilst prepping for a colonoscopy? Asking for a friend. That being said, my first colonoscopy is now in the books: no polyps, all clear, great success.
