I am filled with hope with the number of people speaking towards this ABC budget. Being on a film set is not conducive to participating in City Council meetings beyond sending in an email. Thank you all for using your voices.❤️

One thing to watch for on Day 1 of Vancouver Budget-palooza, which begins in five minutes: this staff proposal to raise fees for having events outside the Vancouver Art Gallery by 2400%. Additional big increases for Robson Square and the plaza on Davie Street. We'll see if it gets clawed back.

Incredibly short-sighted and irresponsible, and completely disconnected from the real values & priorities of Vancouverites. This move would be awful not only for Vancouver, but also for all the cities that Vancouver’s leadership has inspired over decades of North American sustainability leadership.

NEW: Councillors and sources inside the City of Vancouver say the city's mayor, Ken Sim, will put forth a budget Wednesday that will eliminate the city's celebrated climate and sustainability department.

Those who have the power to stop mass shootings can go to hell with their "thoughts and prayers." Do something about it, you evil bastards.

The public needs to hold this mayor and these councillors to account. This is beyond not ok. Also, who will pay the bills for all the lawyers involved? Often these types of costs get passed to the taxpayers. We must stay vigilant! #vanpoli #vancouver #integrity

Mayor Sim & ABC councillors broke their Oath of Office. The Integrity Commissioner ruled they ran City business in secret, violating the Vancouver Charter. Rules for thee, not for me. @ptfry.bsky.social is not shy about leading this charge for transparency: vancouversun.com/news/vancouv...

VPD’s media blitz on stranger assaults potentially tarnished city’s international reputation

A CTV News investigation into a Vancouver police media blitz regarding stranger assaults in the city during the 2022 election year prompted concern from international tour operators.

We hope everyone's looking forward to a lovely weekend. Remember: flowers need water and so do you! It's going to be a hot weekend so stay hydrated, sunscreen up, and wear a hat (or don't, we're not your parents or anything but good advice is good advice!). Stay cool, Vancouver. #VanPoli

Plastic talks have broken down more than the plastics themselves ever will. I have a suggestion. Make the companies who use plastic in their packaging pay for the recycling infrastructure instead of passing that cost onto the consumer. I bet that will convince them to find alternate solutions.
