I think one of those experiences that had the biggest negative impact on me was 11 years ago when, at the Artists' Alley at AC, I commissioned and paid up front to Haku Wuffamute for a badge that I never ended up getting.

Experiences like this are part of why I'm so hesitant to get commissions when it's pay-up-front. It feels like a gamble whether I'll get the art, be left waiting in silence for months, or be ghosted entirely. It's really broken my ability to trust many folks who are open for commissions.

Dear artists, You NEED to keep in contact with your commissioners. That's right, all of them. If they paid you money, you MUST communicate with them and tell them what's going on. You cannot just ghost someone for months and months after promising a quick turnaround and expect them to be happy!
