Making prints, abstract forms, brutalist shapes, occasional birds. Creating zines with Pastel sounds, instrumentals and 60's feels.
Inspiration comes from the view across the river Clyde from Dumbarton. It’s a bit of a niche reference point and lacks structural and meteorological accuracy. 😊
Super night at Silly Love Songs in Brighton. They’re a good bunch. Here’s what I played. 🧡💙💛
So honoured and grateful to get my zine recommended in the Guardian this week. You can still buy issue 1 and 2 from @monorailmusic.bsky.social or directly from me at brensweeney.bigcartel.com thanks x
Beautiful symmetry that I was asked to create The Pastels concert poster for their Christmas gig this year.💙 Their 80’s gig posters were cultural currency in the days before ‘image search’. *tickets almost gone. Get on it. x
My first solo print exhibition at Mono, Glasgow throughout August. All welcome. Opening night Aug 2nd. Dj’s @thepastels.bsky.social and John Sweeney.
I loved my recent screen printing class. I worked with paper stencils to layer shapes and colours. I also made this ‘Smashing Time’ print on a t shirt.
My new zine has Kurt Ralske on film, art, music and Ultra Vivid Scene. Gerry Love,ex TFC, on his record collection / new album. The Gabys on the process behind their music.Radhika talks about her new album. Superhuman on growing up in 80’s. Caledonia Soul book. Pre order at brensweeney.bigcartel.com
The purple and blue layers both have similar shapes but frame a different part of the grey. Just as you can have the same formative years as someone but you’ll both value different parts for different reasons. brensweeney.bigcartel.com
I’ve been visiting my hometown a lot recently and thinking about my youth. Places, people, lochs, rivers……and train stations that were important in my life. Lately my art has reflected these themes.
If you grew up in and around Glasgow you grew up with the designs of sculptor and artist Charles Anderson. He’s currently 89 and his work amazes and endlessly inspires me.
My new book will drop soon #Ancestoring #Genealogy You can order through Genealogical Publishing Co., and several other places. #HankJonesing #BrenSweeneyArt

I’m putting together a piece on sad films for my next zine. I really love Made (1972) with Carol White and also gut wrenchingly depressing films like Lilya 4Ever and Dancer in the Dark. I want to hear your top sad films.
Thrilled to be included in this artists sale at a local studio. Not really expecting sales as but just happy to get my work seen.
A wee autumn diptych commission for a pal. I enjoyed doing these and will make a small series for my shop. brensweeney.bigcartel.com
These will be available tomorrow! Issue 3 of IN THE APRIL SUN has been, as ever, a labour of love.
Print 2 of a short series. Continuing with the same idea but experimenting with composition and scale.
Quick request; I am finished with my zine and just tidying up and proofreading - if you know about any contemporary indie pop zines for me to flag, let me know? I have Zine Things Happen, the @precrecs.bsky.social zines and Here’s Where You Belong by @brensweeney.bsky.social. What is missing?
