Question for the masses / beautiful people in my computer: are we collectively Over games being described as "X meets Balatro" or Balatro-likes? Does a game need to have a certain amount of Balatro-similar features to get to use the term?

Kaz by Kalinarm is a stunning and deceptively tactical arcade game about hammering your cursor keys to reach new high scores. It has SO much variety, and I'm still discovering more. My review: buried-treasure.org/tag/kalinarm/ Please support this project! www.patreon.com/c/buriedtrea...
gamescom? More like JamesTom! I'll be at #gamescom alongside my colleague Tom as we represent @twofrogs.biz! We're there from August 24 - 28, including gamescom dev. If you're a self-publishing indie dev, or an indie game publisher, let's meet and find out how we can help with your marketing!
So while editors can expect me in their inbox, I'll also say: if you're looking for a writer who is more than capable of independently handling a daily news grind, writing longer features and interviews, reviews, guides, or anything else you may need, reach out at davidcarc96@hotmail.com

I try not to focus on Metacritic scores TOO much but I am having a proud moment that KAZ is 83-rated, making it one of the best-reviewed games of the year. Super impressive as the game was largely made solo! 💛 store.steampowered.com/app/3633760/...

The amount of games you see out there called shit like Immortal Glaivekin: Embers of Ashkatan because the devs have been all consumed with making it for seven years and they can't conceive of a normal person reading it and going "what the fuck is a Glaivekin"
You're cursed with deep knowledge about your game, which the passing player on Steam doesn't have. Naming from deep lore which doesn't make sense in a wider context is doing your game a disservice. The name needs to convey *something* of what it's about to someone who doesn't know.
says a lot about the industry that the overall response to these layoffs is "oh these are bad but no studios were closed" we're all so fucking used to expecting the worst
the games industry is going to have totally normal takeaways from this, i'm sure
