@trederia.bsky.social Hi, who wrote the music for Super Video Golf? Incredible work, one of the best soundtracks I've heard all year.
Breaking Through (Heart of Gold) - Donkey Kong Bananza 🍌
This is Jerry Lawson. He invented the video game cartridge for the Fairchild Channel F system. Because of his invention, many consoles had cartridges and CD formats and would become the norm. The Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and many consoles wouldn't exist without him. Happy Black History Month.
Trying JTC 2.5mm picks because Reo from lynch. plays them. I don’t like these thin points on lead stuff but it feels great on rhythm.
It’s hard to play the guitar on the days when FMS targets my hands…
I’ve used an Empress buffer/junction box ever since I started using outboard gear, but only the input is buffered, which is inconvenient. So I’m replacing w/a MusicomLAB System Interface, which has an output buffer as well as a switch to turn the input buffer off. Korea makes great stuff. :)
How to get heavy guitar tones when tuning low: It’s a simple deduction. You use solo boosts because you don’t have enough gain on the thinner strings. You need less gain on the thicker, lower strings. So the lower you go, the more you reduce the gain. That’s all you need to do.
7-string + Morley Wah sounds for work tonight… :) Never thought my 7 would be a “lead” instrument for me, but it’s so comfortable to play after slamming the string action low down.
Equipboard is completely outdated. It's 2025; we don't need every addition of new gear to be personally verified by a small team of moderators who don't check the submissions anyways.
WOW. New favorite Architects song. Incredible writing and mix. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SoL...

I can attest to this. My guitar recordings improved significantly after switching from plugins to outboard gear — not because it sounded better, but because it made me more conscious of how guitar tone “works” and how to get what I was after. It’s a lot more inspiring than loading up plugins too.
Look, good gear doesn't make you a better musician, but it can inspire excitement and passion that makes practice more enjoyable, LEADING to improvements in technique. I've made more progress on piano in the last 6 months than 20 years bc I finally have a piano that feels good to play; it's crazy.
I detest the worldview of those who push AI in creative spaces, but this post implies Patti shares Shulman’s views. I don’t think you should crop it like that.
These people are your enemies
Game recording job tonight. Getting asked to play my 7-string for work more and more. :) I recently strung it with S.I.T. 10-58s. Sounding and feeling good.
HYDE [INSIDE] On the surface, it's a metal album by a veteran J-Rock vocalist not known for such heavy music, shouting and screaming in ways I never knew he could. Underneath, it's a deeply moving album about feeling alien, sick in a world whose ways and values increasingly oppose your own. (1/3)
This video is HISTORIC for game music. Please don't skip this. Magome Togoshi from KEY (Clannad, AIR, Kanon, Little Busters) discussed the equipment and composing process used in mid-late 90s visual novels, and performed some of it. A master at work. www.youtube.com/live/SGUxSAm...

Composing for @partagames.bsky.social tonight… I picked up a Zoom MS-70CDR+ as a compact post-FX solution but it feels so good to play through I’m using it on recordings lately. Great sound and easy to use.
For months, I thought hard about what it could mean for a song to be objectively “good”. The real answer is, of course, that there is no answer. But the conclusion I reached was that the closest thing to “objectively good” was “honest”. A song that reveals the artist’s feelings and perspectives.
Was doing sidequests in FFXIV because I wasn't feeling well enough to do much of anything else. Stumbled across this quest and was moved by it. Living with fibromyalgia for five years now, I've explained it to others with the last sentence here word-for-word.
Update day. :) Need to reconfigure my input levels across patches too.
