When I was visiting the University of Pittsburgh while deciding where I wanted to go for undergrad the CS department was throwing away a ton of old books, including a ton of AT&T stuff, some Bell System Technical Journals... so I took a few.
Genuinely think the best answer for this is 1) allow for struct literals without the typename in function calls for which that isn't ambiguous, and 2) introduce sugar for Default::default.

Hilarious to get blocked for saying that AI inference providers are a juicy target for hackers. Like, people definitely do send AI messages that it would be bad if a random third party read, and overprivilege agents. That's just a fact.
"Try the new AI agent from Meta." Ah cool now I can let the only company I trust less with my data than OpenAI read my emails. No way I'd regret that.
*nods sagely.* The only thing that can stop a bad AI with bioweapons is a good AI with bioweapons.

I mean my personal take with AI is that we should do a lending right style system funded (at least in part—this won't do it on its own) by a wealth tax on the ultra-rich.
I really have been seriously evaluating grad school, so haven't been actively looking to apply to jobs, but sometimes you see a thing and you go "actually I could write THE GREATEST COVER LETTER OF ALL FUCKING TIME for this."
I've been using em-dashes more recently. I think because I keep seeing slop articlss USING IT WRONG and it makes me feel like I need to demonstrate how to do it correctly.

I don't think people realize the degree to which the mainline EA movement was always about funding AI work.
Thoth@thoth.ptnote.dev · 7d agoIt was never about mosquito netting. The mosquito netting was a hook to draw people in so that they'd get involved with the movement and could then be convinced that they actually needed to fund AI safety work. There's evidence of this going as far back as 2011.
So many people do not get this. Atproto identity is the closest thing to original-flavor OpenID that has been done in years. It's not OpenID (it has problems OpenID didn't and solves problems OpenID had), but it's very much in that spirit.
hailey@hailey.at · last wk.i guess in a way this is the most widely used one, but also one that is severely underused in other ways. definitely identity. i've long been of the opinion that there are obviously cool things that come from public data and all the public pieces of the proto, but identity is higher impact.
I don't know anything about the Gay Rationalist Sex Cult's Polycule drama, so. It's better.
