Mid-20s, CS grad, unemployed. The world is a trashfire. 🏳️‍🌈 I've had this username for ages and I still don't know much of anything.

right so the thing about this interview is that I read it and the text of this post is super misleading. "How do you feel about bluesky's reputation as a liberal bubble" isn't really an accurate summation of what was being asked when Toni gave that response?

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

seeing a weird game of telephone happen with the Hank Green thing? I'm seeing a bunch of claims about the way he used AI that don't seem to have any basis in what he actually said.

I'm kind of shocked by github's stacked PR feature being... not implemented the same way literally everyone else did and instead implemented in a way worse way.

Matt Fraction's Hawkeye has the distinction of being the only superhero comic I've ever read that's made me hear "Someday" by The Strokes in my head while I read it.

One real problem with both Marvel and DC's efforts to attract new readers is that they'll sell you the first {8,10,12} issues of a run in an affordable format and then leave you high and dry if you want to read more of the run.

so how good is `h3` today? Because it clearly exists and there are signs of life but also the README is like "definitely unstable and also not done" and Hyper doesn't support it yet. (I kind of actually NEED http3 sooooo)

"algorithms are useless" is an interesting thesis. Like, we can talk about the problems with discovery algorithms or their impact on society, but one thing they pretty objectively and observably aren't is useless.

I'd take this youtube ad about the company's 100+ year legacy of quality and reliability more seriously if the company being advertised wasn't Firestone Tires. ...Is this a prank on behalf of the ad agency?

the youtube app is now using a font for video titles in the list view that looks like Impact? I don't think it actually is Impact, mind, but god it's ugly and hard to look at.

The reason atproto's public data protocol scales so well is because it can publically share data indiscriminately. So it's not surprising private/permissioned/whatever data doesn't scale as well: I'm not sure why you'd expect it to unless you've got an actual solution to that problem.

wait so the ending of Supergirl is Like That because the screenwriter just straight-up misunderstood what happened in the ending of the comic?

Yeah okay it's the fourth day on a five-day course of antibiotics and I'm still coughing and my throat is still fucked up. To the doctor, yet again!

It's important to be aware that AI CAN be useful because people who get blindsided by the possibility tend to overcorrect into clawhead territory. "oh my god AI can find security vulnerabilities, time to give it a blog and a bluesky account." Okay, sloooow dooown a little. Deep breaths.

Am I the only person who read all of homestuck and just came out hating it? Like, all-time soundtrack, some really good animation, some nice MOMENTS, but not nearly enough to justify itself.

man I was really hoping I'd be able to work today, but NOPE. Still not well enough to guarantee I won't cough violently all the time and get horrible germs all over the clean dishes. Getting real sick of this constant wheeze too.
